I own an X3L & XT so I guess I am entitled for a free download of POD farm.I dont own any other Line 6 device.I use a firewire interface to record into Cubase/Nuendo. Please let me know if I can use Pod farm on my DAW without having to use a line 6 external hardware or interface.I use guitar rig on my PC & i just plug into the yamaha interface & it works fine. Will I be able to use Pod farm the same way & record on Cubase?
Someone said that I would have to use the X3L to work with Pod farm.It makes no sense in using the X3L along with Pod farm because I can get all my tones directly from the X3L.So please let me know if I can use Pod farm without using Pod hardware.
Thanks
I am pretty sure that you will find that you need a Line 6 device to be attached (as an expensive dongle) for Pod Farm plugin to function.
The advantage of using Pod Farm plugin rather than just your X3L is that you can record your signal dry and then apply the effects retrospectively, rather than having to apply the processing live.
I am sure that I will be correted if I am wrong, but I believe that there is a paid for version of Pod Farm available, I would think that version would work without a Line 6 device. But if you want to use the Free download version of Pod Farm it is linked to Line 6 Hardware. Which in my opinion is fair enough.....
I have my Toneport GX attached to my DAW at all times to keep my POD Farm "authorized" while using my Echo Layla 24 soundcard. You could buy the iLok version of it if you want but you'll still have to have it in a USB port........
Quick answer . . . you do not have to use your X3L at all as part of the recording process, but it does have to be USB attached in order to authorize the use of POD Farm plug-in.
Stay in the mix and in the know.
