i bought my ux2 last year in october from tom lee hong kong. i was able to record till about 3 and a half months ago.
every time i turn on pod farm, a loud noise comes out from all of the line inputs and i cannot record a thing.
ive tried using all the drivers from the ones included in the original package to the latest ones from the line 6 site.
i believe that it is a hardware problem because of the following reasons:
1. ive changed the usb cable just to check if mine was broken
i used the same cable for a printer and it worked, used a different cable on my ux2 and the same thing happens
2. i tried installing it onto 4 different laptops, on all of the laptops, i tried all the different drivers. (to check if it was a compatibility issue or if the usb ports were messed up)
same thing happens
3. ive tried both gearbox and pod farm of different versions on the 4 laptops (acer, hp and 2 macs) same thing happens
4. ive tried using a usb hub, which worked for some people but it still cant record anything.
5. i found a friend who had the exact same model as me, the black ux2 pod studio and had him test my ux2.
same thing happens. i tried his on my laptop and it worked. so im sure its not a compatibility issue nor a software issue.
6. ive also tried turning off the phantom power before, during and after i plug the ux2 into the computer. no change in the output.
7. ive also tried the ux2 with computers of different OS, snow leopard, windows 7, windows vista and the other version of mac which my friend had, where his ux2 worked.
8. i used different software like abelton and adobe audition, but i still cant record because of the noise.
ive attached some screenshots of what my pod farm looks like when the ux2 is plugged in, and a sound clip of the loud noise that comes out from the ux2.
i cannot record anything. the loud noise cancels out everything i put in. i also attached a sample of the noise i get when i try to record. sometimes it isnt noise but a popping sound. either way, i cant record.
ive tried to look at every angle and it seems to be a hardware problem. the item wasnt mishandled or thrown or dropped at any point in time. please tell me if theres anything i missed or didnt try. but i mainly believe its a hardware problem because i tried my friends ux2 on my laptop and it worked, and he showed me his ux2 working on his laptop while mine didnt.
i live in the philippines but i bought the item in hong kong. i checked and theres only one service center in the philippines. are they authorized to replace the item or do i have to have it replaced in hongkong?
