New switch at Stewmac!

I know there have been a number of people looking for a gibson-type pickup selector switch that's more than just a 3 way. It looks like Stew mac has come out with one that has 6 selections (looks like 3 for each of the three positions). Check it out:
That looks pretty cool!If I am looking at it right,it could actually take the place of a strat 5 way? Then you would not have to piggy back the vax 5way and just a seperate mag pu switch. That would be cool since the issue I have ever had with the vax 5way is the electronic interference when running my mags.It isn't really bad but I hate buzzing and unwanted noise, even if it is small.
Are you referring to running both pickups and variax on one switch? If so, I get the feeling this switch wouldn't be good for that. That's what was good about the variax one, was that you could just use the other side for pickups. I think this one just has 6 terminals and that's it. It would be more for people doing a transplant, but want to keep the look of a gibson-type switch as opposed to a strat-style blade switch.
I was actually thinking of using it for just the mag pu's if it works that way.The only issue I have found with using the vax 5 way for the mag's and the vax increases the interference noise when using just the mags.If a seperate 5 way or 3 spst switches are used it is not as bad, almost gone.So if I could use this smaller and less intrusive switch for the mags, that would be ideal. If not thats ok too but it looks like it would work that way.Am I looking at it right? It seems to be fairly standard setup like a LP wiring, with being able to add 3 extra circuits/pu's or whatever.
I think it would work fine for that. If you do it, let us know how it works.
I'm going to redo my pickguard soon and change it around so it is a little more simple so that's when i'll give that switch a try.I'll keep you in the loop.
Stay in the mix and in the know.
