tapping

trying to tapping techniques and it is basically crap results to much noise to obtain a good session..ie: hum and interference..blah..(make sense). I i have a great guitar all my guitars do the same thing...noise..!! i just would like to have to not hammer the hell out of the neck..to produce a good tap..?. any suggestions..?

i use hmbucker dimarzio dp 155 blk the other guitar has a jackson 95 humbucker in a model 88 charvel the other is in a 75 dinky II copy even my strat makes a noise..i'm really not creating the noise..just because i have to tap with pounds of pressure..kinda peeves me off..

    Hello,

        How much gain are you using?  If there is a lot of gain that could account for some of the noise.  Please see the following link for possible solutions:

    Don't know if you tried customtone.com.  I have this patch called Peavey 5150 Tap that works for me with tapping only, but not very good for anything else.  You can also try my Screaming PM Tap patch there.  Any of my patches with PM in the title means good for palm-muting.
