Can't find 16 ohm G12-K100's to replace the 16 ohm V30's.....Anyone recommend a 16 ohm speaker that is comparable?  I've heard about the Eminence Swamp Thang, but is it a close match?

Hey guys,

I have the MKII 212 combo, and I'd like to get rid of the icepick highs from the amp, and had looked into getting the G12K-100 after some reviews I've read.  The problems is........seems like the 16 ohm isn't in production anymore?  Where can I get them?  I want to replace the stock V30's (decent speaker, but not in open back) with something with more solid low end, balanced mids, and highs that are less harsh.  My plan is to replace the speakers in the combo, and find a decent unloaded cabinet to put the V30's in, for bigger gigs and run 4 speakers.  Also taking suggestions for a decent empty 212 ext. cab.

I have heard a lot of people that like the eminance swamp thang, or the Texas Heat.  Just wondering what the big difference is.  As long as I can find something that isn't so fricken harsh on the high end.  I'd really like to stay with Celestians, but I am open to other speakers.  I had a peavey cab that had sheffields and they were pretty nice to my ears.  Although, I tried the first spider valve HD100 head with that cab, and it sounded HORRIBLE!!  I played with the amp for half a night, and put it on ebay at the end of the night.  Maybe there was a bad tube, or I wasn't dialing it in right, but my XT live through my Rocktron poweramp sounded 10 times better than the SV in my opinion.  The new MKII sounds better in my opinion, but leaves something to be desired in the tone.  The effects are nice, and I can't fricken wait for the editor to come out, and the new effects.  Then us SV owners can share tones.  That is gonna be the poop!  Anyway, please post your suggestions.  I play mostly classic rock, alternative, and new rock.  However, I want something that will be also capable of blues, and Sublime-ish cleans.  Thanks dudes!
