i didn't think celestion made a 16ohm version of the G12K-100.
on their website there is only an 8 ohm version on the spec sheet..
that's an easy fix though. just get a pair of 8ohm speakers for your 2x12. those in parallel will give you 4ohms, so then use the 4ohm output on your amp instead of the 8ohm output you used with hte stock speakers.
eminence are very helpful, and if you ask them then they will tell you what speakers of theirs are like the celestion G12K-100

Why are you set on 16 Ohms? Celestion never made K100's that were 16 Ohms anyway. If that's the speaker you want, just get them. Alot of us are using them and having positive results, I love my Avatar 4X12 that's loaded w/them.

Sure, G12K-100 comes in 16 ohms but they're quite rare. They are OEM speakers in Fender MH 400 watt cabs.

Thanks for the reply! I am not set on the 16 ohm version, but I want to make sure that I have speakers that will work with running another 212 ext. cab as well as the speakers in the combo. Is it possible to run two 8 ohm K-100's in the combo and also two more in an ext. cab? Wouldn't that mean you have two separate 4 ohm loads? This is why I want the 16 ohm. So I can have two 8 ohm loads. Or what is the best way to do it?

Dude if you play rock, metal, etc. the Swamp Thang is the bomb. I have a Spider Valve MK II, a Spider IV, and a Fender Super Sonic. After replacing the speaker in the SV MKII with the Swamp Thag, I loved it so much that I replaced the speakers in my other two amps! The piercing highs that were annoying to my ears have been smoothed out due to the Swamp Thang. I would highly recommend them. Good luck!

I recently bought an Eminence speaker, the Wizard, lightly used for $40 and it sounds great in my 112 Spider Valve MkI. It emphasizes the lower mids more than the V30 so it doesn’t have the ice-pick sound of the V30. The plexi crunch models sound much better. I’ve also used the Spider Valve with my pod x3 and all the models seem to sound better with the Wizard than with the V30. Eminence and user reviews on harmony central describe the Wizard as being articulate, which I think allows the different amp models to be clearly heard.
The Wizard is compared to Celestion’s G12H-30, but it’s rated for 75 watts rather than 30. Eminence also describes the Wizard as being in between their Governor speaker (supposedly similar to a V30) and their Private Jack speaker (supposedly similar to a Greenback).
Check out Eminence’s web page (www.eminence.com) for info and sound samples of their speakers to see what you might like. Try calling them to see what they'll suggest if you're still not sure.

I hate Celestions...Love hearing other guys that use them...I have always thought that the original EV12L is the perfect guitar speaker...At least for me...In terms of Eminence, I would look no further than the Commonwealth 12...However, I have been GASSING for some Delta-Lites for my old Flextone III XL...
I use Madison Minstrels in my SV112 and 212 cab...It's similar to a 12L in a lot of ways...they don't have the cast frame...but the rating and cone shape are nearly the same...

If you get two 8 ohms speakers you have two choices for wiring, either 4 ohms load or 16 ohms load. The SV 112/212 can do the 4 ohms load, but only the HD100 can go 16 ohms. So if you have a 112/212 and 2 x 8 ohm speakers then you need to wire them in parallel and 4 ohms, then you can't use other cabs with the amp.
If you wire them 16 ohms then you will always need another cab to get the ohms to match (either 8 ohms or 4 ohms)
I believed the Emerince stuff one time and bought a speaker from them (the Ragin-Cajin) and to me it sounds woody. I don't like it and don't use it.
Celestion speakers sound good if you have an amp to drive it, and an amp that has a full tone. Drive it with less then you can expect less. (I only base this on my experience)

Good luck

I currently own the SV MKII HD. I've got Eminence Swamp Thangs & Red Ryders ( discontinued) in an X pattern in both my cabs. I wouldn't trade my cabs for the world, they're louder then most ( because of the high sensitivity rating), crunchier, ballsier, and just down right brutal! They're also brutal on your back because the magnets are huge, like around 59 ounces I think, but the trade off is worth it. I support Eminence 100%! Man O Wars would be a close comparison for the Red Ryder, 120 watts with a smaller magnet. The Swamp Thang has a huge bottom end and a thick midrange, the top end is very relaxed. That's why I paired it with a crunchier speaker, just to even out the tones. And the Swamper will not break up, if speaker distortion is your thing you might want to look else ware.
