Adding memory to Flextone III XL

Howdy folks,
According to the Line 6 web site, an FBV Shortboard wil give me access to 36 presets on my Flex. Is that in addition to the four I already have? So I'd have 40 total? Is there anyway to add more memory to the Flex itself, so I don't have to store the presets on the Shortboard?
Thanks

No, it's not; you'll just have 36 total.

Actually, the presets are always stored on the Flex; it just doesn't have the controls to access them, so you need an external controller like the Shortboard. And, no, there's no way to add more memory -- 36 presets is it.
Well, that's kind of a bummer. It seems like if the memory is already in the amp it would have been easy to just add a couple more buttons, so I don't need a shortboard. Is there any other (hopefully cheaper) controller I can use?
BTW, thanks for the quick response. Much appreciated.
Well, you can do it from your computer using the Line 6 Edit software. And any MIDI controller that sends program change messages will work. I think the 36 presets are just MIDI PC 1-36.
Hmm, okay, now that's interesting. Our keyboard player is already using midi, so maybe I can take advantage of that. Will that let me use the built-in tuner as well?
No.
Essentially you can use any midi controller - if you want to spend the time programming it.
Some folks have already done that for the Behringer FBC1010 - with config for F3XL sitting in the downloads section of vettaville.nl
The FBV, while more $$ is plug-and-play via cat-5 cable. No programming, no power cables.. built like a tank.. actually... well worth the $$ IMHO
Have to ask yourself is the extra $$ you would pay for the FBV a good ROI on the time you would spend researching and learning how to program/configure another device.. and you still have to have the extra power supply ![]()
