spider valve hd 100 mk 2. Head phones?

Could someone tell me how i can run head phones from my sv mk 2 hd 100 ? someone told me  i could hook a mixer to it and plug head phones in to the mixer is this true? and if so do i have to have a cabinet hook up to my head to prevent damage if i am playing thru it with the mixer? I just want to go the cheapest way to have head phones.  Please help.!!  Thank you for your time.!!     God bless / Peace out.

    I believe you need to make sure the direct out on the amp is set to studio mode.  Then you can put the amp in standby and pipe your direct out into a mixer of some sort, or a preamp box such as the Mbox, or Presonus.  Obviously, it probably won't sound as good because it will be bypassing the the tube section.  You can do performance mode, but the amp has to be in play mode in order to do that since it takes a tap from the power tubes to flavor the sound.  Hope that helps

    I go direct out into a line 6 UX1 for direct recording ..at night in standby I use studio mode ..during times when I can turn up for better response I use direct mode ..
