New M9 Owner w/ Questions

much like a lot of you on here, after a lot of reading/listening/watching, i've decided to purchase an M9. i'm waiting for it to come in the mail, which will hopefully be early next week.

i pretty much understand how this bad boy works, but i want to know if anyone knows of any "mods.."

one im particularly interested in...is there a way to mod it so you can have more then 3 effects on at once? so i could utilize all 6 effects i have on one scene all at once?

sorry if this isnt something the guys here at line 6 want to hear/read. just tryin to get the most bang out of my buck! haha.

and my second question is: for updating i know you need a midi connection to your computer. would THIS work?

http://cgi.ebay.com/USB-to-MIDI-Keyboard-Interface-Converter-Cable-Adapter_W0QQitemZ250551971906QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item3a560fb042

i really want to spend as little money as possible on midi stuff cuz i dont use midi-anything. ha

Re: New M9 Owner w/ Questions

I would say it's a physical impossibility to run more than the three effects at once.  The way the M9 is setup essentially is that there are three DSP "engines" - one for each slot.  And each of those can only run one effect at a time.  There might be some effects that they have the processing power to run more than one instance of at time, but I'm sure there are others that would max it out.  So, realistically, I don't see there ever being a way to change the limitation of three simultaneous effects at once.  If it could be done with the current hardware, I'm sure they would've made it so it worked that way.

Theoretically, any MIDI to USB converter should work, and some people have had luck with the el-cheapo versions like that.  Personally, I'd rather go with a brand name device simply because the thing that's always the potential issue with these adapters is the driver support.  Personally, I trust a company like M-Audio which has been in the interface business for quite a while to know how to create working drivers over some no-name company.

    Hello,

i don't think any mod will allow you to do that but that would make a good feature request.
