Spider IV head  Speaker

Hello,

I have a Spider IV. I called support yesterday and told the tech that I have a Line 6 Flextone 1-12 cabinet and asked if it would be ok to use this for my practice cab at home and he said no I have to have a stereo 8 ohm cab or it will damage my head. I asked if I could use a Y cable and plug it in to both the Left & Right speaker outlet and   then run a single cable to the flextone cab and he said nope.He said I should use the headphone out and plug it into something to give me sound. Can I come out of the headphone jack to the flextone cab without damaging the head? I have a Marshall 412 JCM1960 stereo 300 watt cab for my band but I wanted to use something smaller at my house. If the headphone jack doesn't work what do you suggest and does Line 6 make a smaller cab, maybe a 2-10 cab that will work.

Thanks & GOD bless,

Kirk Dawson

The amp must be either connected to (2) 8 ohm cabinets/loads or no cabinets connected and using the headphone jack with headphones or self-powered speakers.  You should not be using Y-splitters with speaker outputs.  Nor can you connect the Flextone speaker cab to the headphones jack as there is no power from that output to power the speaker for audio.
