To whom it may concern!
I am working on recording some guitar parts into my new cakewalk studio v-100 from my HD100 Pre-head.
I need verification on how this is done. What I am planning to do is to conect the direct out (looks like a mic type of conection) from my HD100 pre-head to my cakewak sv100. I am confuse if It needs to be plugged into the guitar input, or the mic pre-amp input of my studio V100.
Can someone check this for me? I am very happy to send more details with pictures of the cakewalk input.
Thanks,.
Hi,
The XLR output on Spider Valve 1st Gen heads are meant to provide a direct output for live or studio applications.
It is safe to connect the XLR output from the Spider Valve to the XLR input of an interface, but it's always important to keep in mind that you'll want to adjust gain levels (no matter what devices are in use, as a general rule of thumb).
Make sure levels are low initially; bring gain/volume levels up carefully while monitoring the quality of audio signal in your audio output device and you should be fine.

Thanks Perry. This helps.
By the way, do I need to keep my Spider Valve on stand by, or it has to be engage during recording?
Thanks.
With the SV MKI HD100 you have only one option and that's to use the XLR out with standby "engaged" as you put it:
The MKII allows for two differing modes Direct and Studio Mode ... and Studio Mode can be used to record XLR out in standby with the MKII seires.
Stay in the mix and in the know.
