Why am I not getting any sound

Hello,
I just downloaded the newly released driver version 4.0.2.3 and I am not getting any sound.
This is what I did:
1. Installed Gearbox version 3.71 installer.
2. Unistalled drivers.
3. Installed driver 4.0.2.3
4. Plugged everything and opened Gearbox
There is absolutely no sound and it seems that there is no signal getting to the Guitar Port.
Is this the correct way to install everything?
I have Windows 7, if this is the final release for the drivers what's going on?
Thank you.
I have never uninstalled any Line 6 stuff. Just let the Monkey do it and follow the instructions. When you plug the USB cable in as instructed the drivers get loaded. Maybe the drivers aren't loaded, hence silence.
According to Monkey, the drivers ARE installed, I tried to use it to re-installed them and I got an error message saying that it was unable to and that I should install them manually.
Just tried something different:
1. I installed the new driver 4.0.2.3
2. Ran the Gearbox v.3.71 installer and unchecked all the drivers included in this installer
3. Opened Gearbox
Everything seemed to work ok, but after a couple of strums I lost all sound from every single application in the computer, just like with the betas.
Well, it's been a week since my original post and I am still waiting for any support person to tell me if I could do something to solve my problem.
So far I've had to use a Bheriger interface to be able to record but I would love to use the Guitar Port again. Could anyone help, please?
Thank you.
Hello,
I'm wondering if you are suffering from the same type of drop outs that others claim to be having.
Can you describe to me in detail exactly how these audio drop outs occur?
Is it a complete drop out that requires you to either unplug and replug your device or reboot your machine OR are the drop outs more like glitches, pops, and crackles?
Can yo provide me with a recipe as to how you are able to reproduce these drop outs? Thanks.

I had this and had to reinstall windows to fix it. That was about 8 months ago and still working fine with my UX2 on windows 7 64bit.
Hi Line6Miller,
The drop out is a complete and absolute loss of sound, no sound is coming out from any app and it requires for me to reboot the computer.
As for the recipe, like I said on a previous post, this is what I did:
1. I installed the new driver 4.0.2.3
2. Ran the Gearbox v.3.71 installer with all the drivers included in this installer unchecked.
3. Opened Gearbox
At first if I strum on the guitar I do get sound and then after a few seconds the sound just disappears, nothing can be heard from any app.
Please help.
Try gear box 3.72. It has windows 7 64bit drivers.
I just tried Gearbox 3.72 and I got the exact same result.
After installation I opened it and start playing. It seems that if I keep on playing non-stop it's ok but, as soon as I stop the sound of every single app is gone again. If I unplug the Guitar Port I get sound on all apps again. I then plug the thing back and the same thing happens.
Hi Line6Miller,
Are there any updates on this defect?
Even though the thread shows that it has been answered, it hasn't. I can't use my gear. I don't know what the software development process is with you guys, I'd like to think you're researching and testing but I would really like to know if I'll be able to use my guitar port again.
Thank you.
I would reinstall windows i had the same thing happen and for some reason when i would reinstall the drivers it still would not work. I went around and around with tech support. As soon as i reinstall windows. It worked and has been for about a year. I think it a dead .dll or somthing like that and it is not getting updated.
I can't reinstall Windows. This is a brand new computer with Windows 7 preinstalled. I don't have a Windows 7 install or update.
If its a new PC it should have a ISO file of windows 7. Just burn it and reinstall.
I've run the recovery disks on the PC. The only thing that I have installed is GearBox and I have the exact same problem.
I have the latest software, the latest driver and I keep loosing all sound after a few strums.
I am desperate. I hate the sound of the Behringer thing that I'm currently using. Please help.
Hello Line6Miller,
What's the status on this? I've tried everything, including installing the last version of GearBox after reformatting and reinstalling Windows 7 and the problem just doesn't go away.
I love this product but it's become unusable for me. Please help?
do you lose sound when gearbox is not running?
