x3 high pitch noise on 1/4 outs

Hi all:

 

I have been using my x3 bean with a tech21 pe60 for a few months. I am wiring the 1/4 input of pe60 with one on my pod outs using a guitar cable.

I am experiencing an high pitch noise coming time by time like one in file attached (check around sec 4) no matter of which model or amount of gain (this is with a match d-30). I tried to pug other power sockets or using a power filter but nothing helped so far. Before that, I was using the pod only with headphones and could not hear this kind of noise. I just flashed fw 2.0 but this did not help too. Any suggestion?

    More like between secs 2 and 3, right? It sounds a bit like some EM interference that you might get e.g. from a computer. Is there a computer nearby? Or a wi-fi access point, or something like that. Also, if you don't get that disturbance on your headphones, there's a serious possibility that it's the amp that's picking up the interference.

     

    As a first measure, I would try switching electronic apparatus off, or moving the rig to if see you still have the same problem, though you probably already tried this, I guess...

      Hi,

      thanks for your reply.

      Unfortunately no computers or wifi spots around. Had tried to move to other power sockets as well with no luck. A balanced connection with pe60 may help? I am reading on man that also 1/4 outs of bean are balanced (?!?). If this is the case I do need an 1/4 to xlr adapter I guess? Which wiring?

        Yes, the outputs are balanced on an X3 bean, and a standard TRS jack to XLR will transmit a balanced signal that's much more robust to EM interference. I don't know if this will solve your issues, but it's certainly worth a try!

          Hi

          an update. I tried with an xlr connection, added ferrite suppressor to the power cable, use different guitar cable brands... nothing, time by time

          the pitch comes out. Ultimately I tried with headphones again. I was using a AD30+match chief dual tone... and the pitch was there. Any suggestion is more than welcome. Thanks.

      Does this noise only occur with this model?

       

      How do you have this tone dialed in? What are your parameters set to? EQ's and such? Thanks.
