I usually post free stuff but this isn't free - but it's worth (?) $400 retail and on sale for $99 Canadian.
I got an email from IKMultimedia (I get them often
)
| Dear Musician, For a limited time you can get any of IK's range of superior-sounding Virtual Instruments - SampleTank 2.5 XL, Miroslav Philharmonik, Sonik Synth 2, SampleMoog or SampleTron for ONLY $99, at Long & McQuade! |
| That's a saving of up to 75% off regular prices during the IK Multimedia Virtual Instruments Extravaganza, brought you by our Canadian distributor Music Marketing! |
I just got it and L and M is out of stock and the sale ends Apr 1.
Works as a standalone application as well as a plug-in in Mac OS (Universal Binary), and Windows (XP/Vista)
* Supported plug-in formats: VST, RTAS, and AU
I have a free version of Sampletank - but it's nothing like the full version.
So if anyone needs something like this - maybe it's also on sale where you live.
bumpy,
I listened to all 71 demos of the SampleMoog: it was cool that they showed photos of the various Moog's, because I'm only vaguely familiar with some of them. In 1981, the first synthesizer I played (a Radio Shack/Realistic/Moog MG-1) after seeing Elton John with one in a Radio Shack ad. I didn't buy it after trying it. Soon thereafter, I went to more of a professional musical instrument store, tried a Moog Source, and ended up buying my first synth: a Sequential Circuits Pro-One (a mono-synth), I still have it. I had an ad on my wall for a Memory Moog in the early 80's (way too expensive for me to buy). That Theremin sound was surprisingly good. I hope to get Arturia's Analog Factory software (can be bought for $99) for my birthday in less than 2 weeks. I already own Arturia Prophet V (which emulates Sequential Circuits Prophet 5 & Prophet VS synths): I went through some headaches to get it to work, but after that I am quite happy with it (also available for $99). My first polyphonic synth was a Moog Opus III, purchased in 1982 (I think it became rather obsolete in a few years: I paid $650 for it new, sold it for $400; several years ago I saw an old one for sale in a store for $750 which surprised me).
I have Analog Factory SE 2 that I got with my XFactor dvd with my keyboard.
I just installed it and I'll post a picture.
There are 3 files on the dvd - one is setup.exe another is Analog_Factory_SE_2.0 dmg and the other is DS Store which I think is a Mac file.
The dmg is 118MB.
I can upload it somewhere and you can download it if you want it. There's no serial number or anything needed or any activation.
bumpy,
There is a good chance someone already purchased Analog Factory for me: my birthday is a week from today. Even if I don't get it for my birthday, I don't want to download it illegally. Is SE 2 the version 2 of the regular Analog Factory? How do you like it? Any problems getting it to work? I forget, did you buy a Yamaha controller keyboard to get the XFactor bundle?
Take a look at the video here for XFactor. I got it with my Yamaha KX8.
I installed Analog Factory to see what was in it since you mentioned it. There's Arp 2600, CS80v, Jupiter-8v, minimoogv, MoogmodularV2, Prophet5, ProphetVS.
But it's a Lite version. I don't look at it as much more than a free software. If you lived next door - you could use the dvd since I think I can give it away (except for the things I used).
I only tried the standalone which works good and sounds good. But I have the same or similar sounds in other vstis and don't actually play synths with only a couple of octaves. Playing two keyboards at once would take me too long to learn to do.
I can try the plugin and see if it needs an authorization because the website has no mention of the Lite version - but mentions the Steinberg elicencer to authorize the full versions. If it does need authorization - it doesn't matter because I'll let you have it. I didn't authorize it in any way and I don't think it needs it.
Did you authorize Cubase with the elicencer?
Any way - if you don't get it for your birthday - you can have mine if it works.
bumpy,
I have Cubase LE4 done with the proper licensing (I forget the name, not sure where the instructions disappeared to, probably e-licencer): it was a major pain to get it to work. I almost returned it (part of Tascam US-144 interface). But now it's fine. Are you saying it's a lite version that only has a 2 octave range? I shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth, but I really want a 5 octave range (that's what I use as a "controller": an old Korg DS-8 synth). Thanks for the offer. Good chance I will buy the Analog Factory if I don't receive it as a gift (assuming your version is only 2 octaves).
I tried the plugin which works fine without any activation.
The picture shows only two octaves - but it plays over all 88 keys. Some synths though are only mapped to the actual keys that are originally on the hardware synth. And since the real hardware is only a couple of octaves - I figure it won't sound real.
I visualize them as the little keyboards that sit above the big keyboards in real life and I don't have any experience playing the real things - so I just ignore them. ![]()
bumpy,
I finally found my Cubase LE4 instructions: it is a Syncrosoft license, but I vaguely remember that it changed to some other license system (which probably caused me all sorts of problems). I am still confused on what makes your Analog Factory a lite version. The full blown Analog Factory gives you several virtual synths, but you can only tweak a few parameters per a given patch. On my Arturia Prophet VS software, you can edit dozens of different things per a given patch. The (full blown) Analog Factory software gives a simplified Prophet 5/VS emulation, but much less things you can edit. If you want full tweak-ability for the Arturia Moogs, Arp, Jupiter 8, Prophets, CV-80, etc., you have to buy them all separately. The full Jupiter 8 emulation is at least $200 just by itself. If your Analog Factory is not a lite version, and you're not going to use it anyway, and I don't get it for my birthday, I might buy it from you (if you mailed the CD/DVD to me). I tried Analog Factory at Sam Ash and it seemed like I could play any key (but I was only using a mouse to audition the sounds & I was often playing the same note in the middle of the virtual keyboard).
The installer tricked me. I listed the folders that it installed - but that must be a default for the full version. Sorry about that.
If you download the picture I posted - you'll be able to zoom in and see everything clearly.
It lists 4 instruments - arp 2600, cs80v, minimoog v and modular v. with about 200 presets using those.
The controls seem to be the same for all presets which are those knobs and sliders. The 8 buttons are "snapshots" which I guess are saved settings that can be quickly changed on the fly. The four in the middle change with the presets but I have to hover the mouse to see what they are.
Button 1 is osc level for minimoog - but audio in 2 filter for the arp - and gain mixer6 for modular v etc.
This is definitely a scaled down version.
I have one dvd with everything on it and they are all light versions or demo's.
The Kore2 player is better than this except for the fact that you like the synths. So I wouldn't sell it to you - but I can upload the dmg file - send you a PM with a link to download it - then I'd delete it after you download it.
Then I'd uninstall it to make you feel better. ![]()
bumpy,
I think version 1 of Analog Factory had 2,000 presets, and version 2 has at least 3,000. I appreciate your offer, but I don't want to steal from Arturia (assuming that it is stealing).
If you think it's stealing then you shouldn't have it in case it affects your creativity. ![]()
But for the record - lite software is always free - even if it has to be authorized - like Ableton Lite, Kore2 player etc.
It comes with lots of hardware items and isn't freely available - but some (like Kore2 player) is freely available for download along with many others that want you to try the product then update to the full version.
These things aren't "cracked" pirated commercial software - they are giveaway versions like MDrummer.
It just so happens that I had the lite version that I didn't need and to sell it would be wrong. Free is free.
bumpy,
Fair enough. That's why I said "assuming", because I didn't know the legality of sharing a file like that. Maybe I'll hit you up for that in the future. Thanks!
bumpy,
Just letting you know I got the Arturia Analog Factory 2.0 Experience for my birthday. Lots of nice sounds in my opinion. It came with the 2 1/2 octave keyboard controller (my wife got it on clearance: both the software & keyboard for $150 at Guitar Center). I would typically prefer a 5 octave keyboard like my usual keyboard, but this small keyboard can fit on my computer desk, and all the knobs & sliders are rather handy. With help from my wife, it didn't take me long to get it running compared to a lot of my other software gadgets.
It sounds like a good buy with hardware along with the software at that price.
I still have my M-Audio keystation 49 that I was thinking of getting a new keyboard stand that holds two keyboards and using it on one vsti along with my Yamaha running another one. Except that all 8 of my usb ports are full and I don't feel like learning to play two at once.
Learning a Moog type synth as opposed to a piano/organ type keyboard would be hard for me since I don't have a feel for the sound it's supposed to produce. But as I look at my keyboard - my left hand would only use two octaves at the most - so it shouldn't be hard to do - if I had a feel for it.
Well at least you finally have some synths to work with - so I can quit worrying about you. ![]()
