Four cable method hum

When I use the four cable method and run FX1 pre and FX2-4 through the FX loop I have a huge hum.  I have run all of the FX blocks through the FX loop and there was no problem, and I also put them all infront of the amp and there was no issue.  I am playing through a mesa lonestar and have run many stomp boxes through the FX loop prior to buying this.  I bought this unit so that I could run distortions pre and mods, filters, delays, and reverbs in the FX loop.  All of my cables are gold tip magomis and they work fine.  My power supply has been seperated completely from everything and the problem still exists.  I have the latest firmware update and have tried every thing posted on the forum, except putting a noise reduction in my rig (I don't want to suck tone and shouldn't have to buy one).  I HOPE YOU CAN HELP ME PLEASE!!!!  I love everything besides the huge hum!!!!  Thank you!!!!

I had the same problem myself with my Marshall JVM. I bought this and it solved the problem.    http://www.zzounds.com/item--BEHHD400

I have been hearing about this little box for the past weeks.  So, after I just posted to this thread, I went and bought one on line.  I figure for the cost I might as well have it just in case the hum monster rears its ugly head ;-)

    Re: Four cable method hum

There are many threads in Line6 and several in the Boogie Board about this.  Mostly you MUST run your M13 power supply cord far away from your signal cables [I put the power cable far right and all the signal cables far left and bundled].  I even loop the 2nd expression pedal's [right side for me] patch cord at 90 degrees and over the power chord like a high arc.  I further use a Monster Power Pro 3500 for many reasons other then filtering and conditioning but this does a great job of just those two features since it splits the power recepticles in back into digital [the M13], analog [my old wireless receiver], and high current [my amps].  I even use the front courtesy plugs for my amp fans [I normally use mesas for the stage].

You should just try the placement of the power unit first.  But with my high gain mesa amps I really felt using the Pro 3500 is a must.

Hope this helps you to find a solution which works for you.
