Well, I guess thech support thinks my question is stupid, or has been answered somewhere else on here. If it has, I simplly don't see it. I am so happy I paid for this product, which does sound amazing, but am very dissapointed that instead of using it properly I am now forced to go from the eighth-inch out to the mic in on my computer to record my guitars. I hate sounding all upset, but this is the 5th message I've posted. I removed three after I realized they weren't getting answered or I discovered something new that I hadn't tried. But now am truly stuck.
If I had known in the first place that Gearbox was discountinued, I would have went straight for POD Farm, which would have saved me hours. WIth a brand new, just out of the box product, you don't expect to be needing tech support within five minutes of having opened it. And now, three days later, I have resigned to using it "improperly." It doesn't sound that bad, but It's not the way it was meant to be used. I still would like to know why POD Farm says that the device is unauthorised or not connected. Both statements are not true and tells me it will run without audio. What's the point in that?
Anyhow, thanks for a great sounding product that could sound better, I'm sure, if I could get past this annoying problem.
Did you click on the 'activate product' button in Line6 Monkey after installing pod farm ?
I think it's on the 'optional updates' tab.
I do have to say that the installation procedure for their hardware isn't exactly Windows-standard as it absolutely is not plug&play unlike every other usb-device ... ![]()
Hello. Thank you for your reply. Yes, I activated it by highliting POD Farm, clicking "activate product" and typing "refresh" just like the official Line 6 supoort post suggested. I have tried this three times and the funny thing is that all my other activations are indicated by the little green check-mark next to them in Monkey...except for POD Farm. I don't know, man. This is really frustrating. If you (or anyone else out there) come across anything, please let me know. Thank-you.
Hi,
The product you have registered in your account is a GuitarPort device. I'm not sure if you aware of this or not, but GuitarPort devices do not come with any optional Add-Ons straight out of the box.
If you wish to run POD Farm 2.01, you will need to purchase an optional license from our webstore first and install the license key into your GuitarPort's chipset via Monkey. The POD Farm 2 license enables users today to run the POD Farm 2 "standalone" version and "VST/AU/RTAS Plug-In" version within a supported host recording DAW program.
The POD Farm 2 license is available for purchase here: http://line6.com/store/podfarm/guitarport
Now, there are "free" standalone programs that you can run with your GuitarPort device: GearBox 3.72 and POD Farm 1.12. However, the ability to run the Plug-In version of these programs is no longer available, due to the fact that the POD Farm 2 license is the only only being sold by us in 2010 now.
Hope this info made sense to you.
Regards,
L6Perry
Now this is exactly what I needed to know, but I am majorly dissapointed because I bought the Guitarport with Gearbox (which is an out of the box add-on, no?) so that I could record in my DAW. I had no way of knowing that when I ordered the Guitarport that it was already obsolete and would be basically unusuable for recording. Another thing is that I live in Eastern Europe and dealing with people in English is difficult and, at best, a gamble.
How can I get a licence? I don't have a credit card here. Any other options? Can I just record using the "phones out" on the Guitarport into my "mic in" on the computer, or is that some serious quality loss?
Thanks again.
