Tone Bundles

So when are we going to start seeing those great tone bundles from all you experts, especially for the HD500? ![]()
There are already som on custometone.com
Aren't those just single tones and not bundles or am I missing something? I remember back in the day with my XT, users would release all of their tweaked patches in one go so you had a much better base to tweak your own patches off of than the factory presets.
You are right. Nobody has upped a bundle.
There was this great bundle where each amp was in its own bank. And each bank contained that amp in a nice clean mode, crunch, high gain and lead. It was a cool concept and I dug it.
I would like to see some bundles too! I would be interested in the same amp per bank one.
I'm not 100% sure, but I don't think Custom Tone will accept the bundle format as an upload - but I may be wrong on that. I like the idea of a Set List containing all 16 amp models with each bank having 4 presets with different variations on the theme of a single amp model - i.e. Clean, slightly dirty, Crunch and Solo. Good call. There's quite a bit of work is involved in creating 64 individual presets that actually sound great though. Any volunteers?
Nick
OK - I have spent a little time on a fairly basic Set List today called 16 x 4 Full Amps for the HD500 which contains the bare bones of all the full amp models in the HD500 in order and in response to the idea mentioned in this thread. I have set up one amp per preset bank with the gain and volume controls set to CLEAN, SLIGHT DIRT, CRUNCH and SOLO in the order 1, 2, 3, 4 so you have preset names like BRIT J-800 1, BRIT J-800 2, BRIT J-800 3, BRIT J-800 4. I've included some basic FX (same in every preset), such as Wah, Screamer, Analog Chorus, Digital Delay, Reverb and Volume pedal with the Screamer turned on in every SOLO patch along with a slight boost in volume on the same patches. I haven't spent a massive amount of time tweaking so it is therefore what it is - and is intended as a starting point with most of the building blocks in place, but of course it can be modified to suit individual requirements.
Unfortunately Custom Tone will not accept an HD500 Set List so I can't upload it there and this forum does not accept attachments at the moment so I can't include it here. If anyone is at all interested in this custom set list on the clear understanding that it is 'as-is' without any pretensions otherwise and may or may not be to your tastes so if you don't like it just remove it or overwrite it, I will find a home for it from where it can be downloaded and I'll paste the link here.
OK - posted in the X3 Forum here: http://line6.com/community/thread/46526
Nick
That sounds great Nick. And I love that it's a set list by itself so I can have my "songs" setlist and my "general tones" setlist. Looking forward to getting the link and trying out your bundle.
David.
@Nick Thanks so much for the bundle! It pretty much was what I was looking for. It's great to have a canvas to work off of to tweak these models to make them work for me. Mapping the amps out this way makes it easier to wrap my head around everything the HD500 offers.
Oh, yeah, Nick! We're interested!
Thanks!
Jason
OK - Jason, David and other interested parties the HD500 Set List is here: http://line6.com/community/thread/46526
Hope you find it useful.
Nick
Great job on the Setlist Nick. Just downloaded it and tried it out. It sounds great and it's now proudly one of my setlists. ![]()
Thanks,
David.
Hi Nick, Great to have a slot with all the amps for a starting point. I just can't figure out how to get the list saved to slot 5 in HD Edit. I don't have my HD500 connected to my computer and I'm wondering if thats what my problem is. I have your bundle on my desktop. I can get it into Edit at Slot/Set 1 then move it to Slot/Set 5 but I can't save it for some reason and as soon as I close Edit and re-open it its gone.
Man I get so frustrated when something I know has to be easy and I just can't figure it out.
Can someone help me out here?
Thanks,
Dan
Hi Dan
Yeah - to get the Set List into your HD500, the HD500 has to be connected to the computer and Edit has to be linked to the HD500. The HD500 retrieves the set lists/patches etc from the HD500. Select the User 1 set list (go into Amps and then select User 1 from the drop-down set lists on the left). Load the new set list directly into User 1. Once the set list is loaded into Edit you need to click the Set List link under Send at the top of left of the Edit window.
Nick
Nick,
Does the HD500 have to be connected to Edit in order to save your or bundle or any tones for that matter on Edit? I've been trying to save your bundle to HD Edit without the HD500 connected to it with no luck.
Dan
Hi Dan
You can load the Set List in to Edit when the HD500 is off line and you can then save individual presets to your hard drive from that set list if you wish, but Edit itself doesn't start up with any set lists loaded UNLESS the HD500 is connected because Edit automatically retrieves the settings in the HD500.
You don't need to re-save my set list as a set list unless you are making changes to it as what you would get would be the exact same thing.
Nick
Nick,
I guess I'm having a hard time explaining my problem.
1. I downloaded your bundle to my desktop. (Keep in mind that my HD500 is not conneted to my computer.)
2. I opened HD Edit.
3. I clicked on the Set Lists tab.
4. All slots are empty right now.
5. I tried to drag & drop your file into Set list 5. Can't do it.
6. I was able to get it into Set List 1 but not 5. Why is that?
7. Its still not saved in that slot. I have tried everything but can't get it to save.
8. When I close HD Edit I lose your file.
9. The only way I can get your file into Set List 5 is to highlight the whole SetList 1 and drag it into Setlist 5 but i still can't figure out how to save it.
10. When i close HD 500, all is lost.
11. I just don't understand what I'm doing wrong.
Dan
Maybe I'm not understanding the problem, but I think this is what you want:
1) Change out of setlist mopde (choose Amp, Effects, or Mixer). On the left, just above the list of tones, click on the drop-down and select setlist 5
2) Open Nick's Setlist (which is not the same as a bundle)
3) It should now be in setlist 5, so save the entire bundle (that is, all setlists as a group) as your bundle.
Next time you open HD500 edit, they will be gone. HD500 Edit defaults to nothing until you either load a bundle, or plug in an HD500. You need to load (open) your newly saved bundle (not a setlist) and it'll fill in all setlists.
If you were connected to the HD500, you would send the setlist to the HD500. When you connect the HD500 to the computer, HD500 Edit will automatically upload from the HD500 unit.
Hope that helps,
David.
Dan
1. I downloaded your bundle to my desktop. (Keep in mind that my HD500 is not connected to my computer.)
Hmmm - I'm not sure why that is, but never mind you can still use Edit in off-line mode ![]()
2. I opened HD Edit.
Okay so far so good
3. I clicked on the Set Lists tab.
Okay, that's fine to check the contents and to rename the set lists if you wish - but I would open the Amps tab and from the drop down list on the left i would select Set List 5
4. All slots are empty right now.
Okay - that's because the HD500 which is where the presets are stored isn't connected
5. I tried to drag & drop your file into Set list 5. Can't do it.
Nope - you don't do it like that (well I don't LOL), although I think someone said they can drag and drop individual tones You go to the File menu in Edit and select Open Set List and it will open the set list in the currently selected set list slot which should be number 5 as outlined in my answer to 3 above.
6. I was able to get it into Set List 1 but not 5. Why is that?
Because Set List 1 is the default selected set list when you open Edit and you haven't properly selected any other set list as in my answer to 3 above.
7. Its still not saved in that slot. I have tried everything but can't get it to save.
Edit itself doesn't store the presets and relies on being connected to the HD500 from where it retrieves the stored (in the HD500) presets for you to work on. So when you open edit in Offline Mode (no HD500 connected) all the preset slots will be empty. This is normal and expected behaviour
8. When I close HD Edit I lose your file.
No. The file is still there but you must re-load it when Edit is in offline mode, but if the HD500 is connected and you've previously transferred the set list I uploaded for you to the HD500 it is stored in the HD500 and will be saved there. The file on the computer is really a safety backup in case your HD500 gets wiped. With my set list you don't need to re-save it as it already exists UNLESS of course you want to modify the tones it contains.
9. The only way I can get your file into Set List 5 is to highlight the whole SetList 1 and drag it into Setlist 5 but i still can't figure out how to save it.
See answer to 8 above
10. When i close HD 500, all is lost.
You mean when you close HD500 Edit? Yes? See answer to 7 - HD500 Edit doesn't store anything as a default set of presets - the HD500 does and the HD500 must be connected to Edit
11. I just don't understand what I'm doing wrong.
See answers 5 - 10
Dave, I think I'm beginning to understand the process. Thanks to you and Nick!
Nick, Now its starting to make sense. I don't have the HD500 connected to this laptop because its not the one I use in my music room (where the 500 is right now). I'm in my family room and installed HD Edit on this computer also. So I'm basically practicing getting around the software while watching the Nascar race! ![]()
Thanks again for the great bundle and for always being so helpful. Sometimes it just takes a while to sink in!
Dan
Hey Dan,
Glad it's coming together for you. HDEdit definitely has some oddities which I'm sure will get ironed out over time. It is release 1.0 right now so I suspect we'll get an update in the coming weeks. In the meantime all of us have to struggle a little, but man, so far I'm liking this HD500 puppy. I just need to get it plugged into a proper amp or P.A. as I'm currently restricted to headphones and a 30W Acoustic amp.
Enjoy,
David.
Well Dave/Nick, I thought I was getting the hang of this saving tones but when I tried to send Nicks setlist to my HD500 I some how wipped out setlist 1,2,3,&4. They are not on HD edit or my HD500.
Any suggestions on how I can retrieve them? This really sucks!
Dan
Hey Dan,
As far as I understand it, the only way to do it is to reflash and don't keep your tones. You need to store a copy of the original patches as a bundle when you first get the unit.
That being said, I just uploaded my copy of the original bundle on the Thread that Nick created in the X3 forum so you can download the original bundle from there.
http://line6.com/community/thread/46526
In fact, for others reading this thread who don't have their HD500 yet, you can load this up into HD500 Edit and have a look at the patches that come with the HD500.
Cheers,
David.
Thanks Dave! I don't know what I did but it just wipped everything! Amazing what I can do when I really try!
I got everything back in place now though. I wish you guys were close by cause I'd buy and Nick a beer (maybe 2!).
Thanks again my friend,
Dan
SWEET!!!! You rock, that is perfect. That is EXACTLY what I need right now, and I love the way the setlist feature allows you to load up patches from a library of tones, digging it. I really think I want to just spend time with each amp model, and just listen to the different mic / cab settings, and with that sense of the variables being the same in every patch. The onboard presets are great for diving right in, and they sound better than people give credit. They aren't intended to be anything other than showcase the new stuff!
This setlist is perfect for digging deeper though. I like the new HD500 edit software too, it's solid.
Sounds really good. Thanks for sharing.
