Can you use a Pod HD 500 like an M13?

I am wondering if I can use the fx from a Pod HD500 in the loop of my tube amp for reverb and delay (bypassing any amp or speaker modeling) like the M13.  while using the wah and distortion pedals in front, just like an M13.  Does anyone know if the HD500 allows you to do that?

The HD500 has an FX loop which can be positioned anywhere in the signal chain so you can use your HD500 in 4CM configuration with your amp.  The FX loop settings on the HD500 are per preset rather than being a global setting. You don't have to use amp models at all if you don't want to.  So yes the HD500 will work in a similar way to the M13 with your amp.

Also, if you want it exactly like a m13, there is some volume loss with the pod.  set the mixer to max +12db, and the 1/4" out to line as opposed to amp.  this gives you the exact volume through without any amp models and fx.  it will sound just like a bare cable from guitar to amp.

To do what you want, do the 4cm.  For reference Guitar -> Pod Guitar In //Pod FX Send -> Amp Guitar In//AMP FX Send -> Pod Fx Return//Pod Output-> Amp FX Return//

To use your preamp you have to add a FX Loop module into your chain, then you can put all your delays, verbs, mods after the fx loop and all the distortions and gains before the fx loop
