Why isn't any sound coming out of my Pod X3?

My pod X3 was working perfectly fine just last night, but now when i tried to use it this morning there was no sound. When I turn it on i can hear the sound for about 5 seconds, but then it just abruptly cuts off. The pod is still on and operating fine though. Also the pod is not recognized by my computer, it says it has malfunctioned. I have tried updating the software and that did nothing. I also tried safe mode by holding down the right arrow while i turned it on. The good thing is i can hear sound in safe mode. No this is not a cable problem so please dont suggest that. Please help me!
I would try reflashing the memory in safe mode.
Power the X3 on in safe mode as you've described. Then run Line 6 Monkey and choose Flash Memory.
Thank you very much for your help, but i have already tried that. Any other ideas?
Do you get any sound when you engage the wah pedal, it could be a problem with the volume pedal.
I do not have a pedal as this is a pod x3, not a pod x3 live. Thanks for your help though
Have you tried listening through all outputs, including headphones? No sound anywhere?
Yes, i have tried evey output, there is no sound coming out of any of them. Only when i'm in safe mode.
Please help, i am greatly concerned as it is not even a year old.
I'm having exactly the same problem with my Pod X3 Live (also less than a year old - purchased last november). This seemed to start last week when I got a new Mac, and downloaded the latest Line 6 Monkey and updated the drivers and flash on the unit.
If this is happening to more than one person, this is not a random coincidence.
Line6 folks, WTF? What can we do about this?
Mark
The only thing that's differnet between me and you though is that my problems came out of absolutely nowhere. Somebody Please Help!
Hm, re-reading your post, I guess my problem isn't identical - Line 6 Monkey & Gear Box seem to recognize the unit fine, that isn't a problem; and I don't hear any sound in "safe mode", but otherwise it is the same: all output goes silent about just a few seconds after powering the unit on.
I forgot to mention that my computer now recognizes the pod. However there still is no sound at all except in safe mode.
The problem you mention sounds more like a failure in your unit than a wrong setting. I can only suggest you to make use of your warranty by sending it to a local Line6 Service Center.
Here is more information about the reparation: http://line6.com/community/docs/DOC-1606
Thank you very much, I will wait a little bit longer just to see if that really is the final solution, but I think thats what I will have to do.
Since it's still under warranty I suggest you take it to your nearest Line 6 service centre. Make sure you bring your original, dated purchase receipt.
So let me just get this straight, simply walk in with my original reciept, tell them what i told you guys in this thread, and they will fix it for free?
That's what's supposed to happen. It might take some time depending on whether or not they have to order replacement parts.
as silverhead pointed out.. as long as it's less than a year old (as stated) you should have no issues getting it fixed for free.
Thanks very much for your help everyone. Hopefully this will get all worked out so I can get back to Rockin' ![]()
Hey Riff,
Just out of curiosity, does the problem you are seeing persist if you disconnect the USB cable?
Just wondering....
Yes, I just tried and sadly it does.
Thanks for the response (and good luck with the warranty service)! Sounds like your problem and mine are not the same after all...
