High pitch noise with X3, I would need support.

Hi all:

I am reposting a message that was marked as "answered" with the hope to make this
"visible" to line6 techsupp. For the records, the original thread is at
http://line6.com/community/thread/29939

I have been using my x3 bean with a tech21 pe60 for a few months. I am experiencing
an high pitch noise coming time by time like one in file attached (check around sec 4)
no matter of which model or amount of gain (this is with a match d-30).

This file is recorded using "UserC.l6t" in attachment. I can get the same also with (but not limited to) "Orange+Match.l6t"
and "trademark clean (part of x3 presets)". The former is also in attachment to this post.

Data collected so far:

+ no wifi spots nor computers around.

+ tried to pug other power sockets, tried with a balanced connection (TRS->XLR), added ferrite suppressor
to the power cable, used different guitar cable brands and tried with using a power filter.
Nothing helped so far.

+ I can get the pitch with headphones too.

+ I tried to turn off the amp simulation and use the x3 as effect box only. This way
I had not hit the issue. Even though this does not mean it is not there for sure the probability to occour
in that is a lot lower than with amps on. Does that suggest a problem with 2.0 fw or my hw has problems?

I am basically having a showstopper in using the x3 for both recording and live use. I would
really appreciate some help if possible.

Thanks in advance for your time.

Is this a new problem that recently started, or has your POD X3 always had this noise when used with the Power Engine amp?

If this is a new problem, please try re-installing the flash memory on the POD to see if the problem persists.  If it does, try rolling back to a previous firmware version using Line 6 Monkey's Rollback feature.

      Is the problem still there?

Let us know what you find.

Also, please try testing this noise in a different location than where you are normally testing to isolate this issue.

      Regards,

    Hi,

I think your problem is in the hardware of the X3, especially if you're experiencing that same exact high pitched noise using only a pair of headphones connected to the X3.

Unfortunately there are no other suggestions beyond what was already attempted by you; you'll need to have your device diagnosed in person by a repair technician.
