output settings when using only FX

Probably a silly question but does it matter what my output settings are set to on the HD500 when bypassing the amp modelling and using only the FX (similar to M13 mode) and going into the front of the amp?
Thanks,
Derek

I don't think it would matter, but I haven't tested this out, so I can't be sure at this point. I'll run a test when I have a minute and let you know if I find out anything different than the assumption that it wouldn't matter what output mode you were on if amp modeling was off.

I agree with this, and will also run a few tests tomorrow to see/hear what differences there might be - I intended to do so today but had to have a windscreen replacement which took up a few hours longer than I had planned on.

excellent, thanks guys!
I am also very curious about this I have just been turning off the amp modeler but I want to optimize my ability to get the best possible tone. I have more questions but will start a new thread so as not to get this one off topic.

I find that the studio/direct output option works best for me... i use the effects only... to me the other options just add another layer of eq which is not needed by me.
Thanks Brian!
The only thing you'll want to change is setting your 1/4" output mode to amp instead of line. On the 500, that is. The output modes are really only for cab and mic model compensation.
perfect, thanks Karl ![]()
