Hi,
I originally posted this http://line6.com/community/thread/20034 and back then as I mentioned amp worked perfectly at repair center, back then I thought it was a low voltage problem at my place and thats what I put in that last post.
First let me tell you I dont get to play everyday, but I sit down on weekends and record/play with Vetta, I just love this amp so its very hard for me to let it go.
A month ago my amp again stopped working, this is how it happened
So I took my amp to Line6 service center again, this time Line6 authorized a different service center for repair, I plugged my amp in front of tech to verify problem still exists, he called me next day saying they cannot repair it cause this amp was service in past (before I bought it) and it was serviced in a way that they cant figure out the main problem, the only thing they can do is replace the board thats directly attached to the LCD and buttons on the amp besides that everything else in amp is working perfectly.
They also told me, Vetta is discontinued so Line6 cannot provide parts for it and they really cant do anything with it.
Yesterday I bought this amp home, very sad, was ready to throw in garbage and was already thinking how to save money to buy a replacement, this morning I plugged it in just to check for last time and AMP IS WORKING AGAIN.... whatttt??? I am losing my mind on this one, whats wrong with this??, the only thing that I am now noticing and maybe it was there all the time, is when I turn amp on now, it makes that "thud" sound regardless where my volume pot is.
Please can someone help me understand whats going on, I have MS in physics (from 20 years ago) and still remember a little electronics 101, I am actually worst than novice,
If this amp dies I dont know if I can settle for anything else, I had a Fender amp and Vox Tonelab SE when I bought Vetta, the idea was Vetta is loud and for jamming with band and playing live, Fender and Vox will be here at home for recording and practice, I honestly stopped playing Fender and Vox once I heard Vetta and those two are sitting in my closet for last 2+ years. I dont want to buy a used amp again and DT series is pretty expensive for me right now, and I dont think it offers "double tracker" my favorite Vetta feature, can someone help with amp and suggestions for replacement?
Thanks
Sounds to me like there's a loose connection on your LCD board.
I would contact Line6 directly to verify they cannot provide a new LCD board because I had my Vetta II serviced last year and Line6 still had parts then. Vetta I? Well maybe not. thorne
PS - My alternate rig is the Digitech GSP1101 rack-mount unit. I believe it sounds better than the Vetta, but it's rack-mount so reduces overall portability.
Thanks for your reply,
so I think I know what was "repaired" on the amp, its the left LCD, I took pictures and it shows some messy soldering,
now questions is this, where can I get a Vetta I board and if Vetta II board will even work on this?
I need Line6 PCB 35-00-0106, I know Line6 wont sell to me direct but can they at least tell me if they have it so I can ask local service people to order one?
Hello,
You definitely have a hardware issue going on with your amp. Based on your experience so far with two service centers you should give us a call directly and get in touch with a service administrator.
It's true that certain parts for the Vetta are no longer available but I'm not certain what those parts are.
Please give us a call and see if there is anything our service department can do for you.

Line6Miller,
Thank you very much,
as you know I got in touch with Customer Care person who after consulting with you transfered me to parts, where I was talking to a lady who took down my information and said the person in charge of those parts will get back to me, she was filling information my ticket and somehow during that I got disconnected, but I am sure I will get a call from Line6
for those who think Line6 support doesnt care, let this be a lesson ![]()
Thanks again.
p.s. latest update on amp, the left LCD that shows bank number and tone name is now blank but amp is working fine, I am using FBV to read tone names/bank information
Thank you for that information.
As soon as our inventory process is over and the system allows for RMA's we will write an rma for repair at Line6. Please be patient as this could take a couple weeks. As soon as we are back up i will promptly write your RMA.
Thanks,
Line6
Line6Miller,
I just want to let you guys know, that you are awesome group of people, thanks for your help in this matter.
I have decided to live with what I have and will now be moving to either another Vetta, POD HD or DT-50 soon.
any recommendations will really help ![]()
Thanks,
Rizwan
I have the same problem on my second Vetta.
I bought a Vetta in 2004 and after less than a year both the screens stopped working and the sound locked.
I brought it to the authorized assistance in Rome (I'm Italian) and they didn't do anything for an entire year.
Then when I totally lost my patience they changed my amplifier and they gave me a new vetta.
I was really happy, I had my new vetta and I could start recording my songs editing my new sounds, but after
a year the new vetta had the same problem of the first amplifier, the screens became green and the sound locked
the only thing to do was to heavily hit the main screen but after one month of gig every night the screen was broken
I called the line6 assistance and they told me they couldn't do anything and they didn't have any spare parts.
At that point I decided to buy a new amp...but..honestly...how could I chose another line6 product?
I am really sad because I spent a lot of money for my amplifier and I recorded with sounds that are really difficult
to obtain with other analogical stuff...I've been punished for being an innovator in my country..
There are two things I don't understand
1) Why did you build such a thecnological product without separating the processor from the lcd screen?
2) Why is so difficult to obtain a spare part?
I feel your pain, dont feel that cause you are in Italy you are suffering, I went to two different repair techs and they couldnt help me, its just this Vetta is old and finding parts for it is near to impossible. Vetta is pretty old, so they stopped making parts for it, I doubt if you can even find all parts for Vetta II, cause Spider Valve and DT series pretty much replaced it as well.
I was very frustrated with my Vetta problems as well, this amp sounds so good that it hurts to see it dying
. I dont know how, but this amp is still working for me except I dont see anything on left LCD display (this is where you see tone name), since I used FBV footboard I can see tone name on that so this doesnt bother me a whole lot.
Line6 people were great to me, they offered to fix this amp for free, but I was afraid to even move it as it might stop working again. I said I will only move it when I will find replacement for it, so last weekend I bought HD500, hopefully this will produce the tones I was getting through Vetta, still trying to understand it, my initial impression is that rock/metal tones are no match for Vetta but warm, overdrive and clean tones are way ahead of what Vetta offered, one thing I already miss is double tracking feature from Vetta, I dont know why I am so lazy to actually record a second track producing that different attack/accent/delay feel that you get with double tracker.
I think reason they put all Vetta's processing on just three or four boards cause its easier to fix (basically replace the board, instead of using soldering iron to remove/add defective parts), that makes sense when parts (boards) are available but now is a nightmare when they discontinued them.
I wish they start making replacement parts again. I wish they bring Vetta back again, mainly for recording people like you and me, and maybe introduce 1x12 option so one can play/record at home as well.
btw, I am searching internet/ebay every now and then for defective Vetta or parts for sale, maybe I will get lucky one day and find just this board from another Vetta, if I find anything I will let you know as well.
Hi just wanted to let everyone know Line6 did a great job and repaired my amp, FOR FREE
, I am so greatful to them, the issue was a simple lose solder connection, it probably took them 30 minutes to find and fix it
Amp is back with me and its rockin... Line6 people... you rock...
I gotta be honest now I am playing HD500 more then Vetta, mainly cause I was too emotionally attached with it and was very sad when it stopped working for me, I was really debating should I buy another one knowing Line6 stopped support for it or should I go for DT-50
I am extremely happy with outcome as I have Vetta and have time to tweak/learn HD500 to my liking and only play Vetta when I am jamming with my buddy or need to record something with Soldano amp model, (for some reason nearly all my fav tones are Soldano), I am really enjoying combination of both on my recordings.. thanks again Line6
