Hey Line 6 enthusiasts!
My name is Steve MacKay and I am the Australian Line 6 clinician and I have made a tutorial DVD for the X3 Live.
In early 2008 I created a thread on the old forum asking people what they would like to see in this kind of tutorial DVD and I also put some things I like to see in tutorial DVD's, aliens, ninjas, sock puppets etc . . . The end result is now available via PayPal from http://www.twelvefootninja.com/x3dvd.
You can also see some YouTube video examples.
The topics covered are:
Summary of Contents:
Chapter 1 - Navigating the Menus This chapter gives a complete overview of the X3 Live's interface such as delving into the System Menu, Output Menu etc.
Chapter 2 - Connections Different ways of running the ins and outs on the X3L. Different configurations for direct to FOH, front end of an amp, FX Loops etc.
Chapter 3- Preset Creation How to buid a preset from scratch. Mastering the different elements such as EQ, Compression, Gate, Modulation effects, Delay and Reverb. Everything you would need to know to make better presets.
Chapter 4 - Pedal Assignments Connecting a 2nd expression pedal and assigning it and the onboard pedal for real time control of parameters other than Volume and Wah.
Chapter 5 - Software How to use Line 6 Monkey and an overview of Workbench for Variax users.
The DVD has over a 1 hour runtime.
Also features clips of Australian band and Line 6 users, Twelve Foot Ninja and some other quirky bits and pieces to break the mold of regular boring tutorials. The DVD is presented in a casual REAL fashion as though you are in Steve's studio and he is showing you how to use the gear.
Now I cannot promise it covers every possible variable or anomaly within a unit with as much depth as X3L . . . But the feedback I have received has been positive from X3L users all over the world.
Check it out!
Cheers,
Steve
Sure thing mate!
Actually, I've just realized I can post videos in here:
P.S. Anyone who has already bought this DVD, care to review in this thread?
Well done!!
You've covered a lot of details that the manual glosses over.
The material on the DVD is thoughful and has been laid out with just enough ridiculous humor to keep it fun. I really enjoyed it!
I'm kind of a noob to the world of effects, so if you are feeling froggy and want to put together a DVD that goes into more specific detail about the various effects (what they do, how to use them) - I'll buy one!
Awesome thanks for the feedback!
Hello Steve,
I´m using the POD x3 Live with a Variax 500 and I want to order your Tutorial DVD. I live in Germany - do you know what taxes/cumstoms are on the shipment from Australia to Germany and how to manage this?
How to order?
Thanks
Juergen
G'day Juergen!
There are no taxes or customs costs . . . Just $35USD which includes everything.
At the moment that works out to be about 25EURO.
You can order by going to http://www.twelvefootninja.com/x3dvd and paying via PayPal.
Best of luck,
Steve
Hi Steve,
I am looking for good tutorials on X3 Live, and ran into your youtube promo's. Would it be possible to get a download link instead of a physical DVD shipped. Seems more convenient that to ship a DVD from Australia to Europe.
Is there any other tutorial material that you can recommend ?
Cheers
Johan
G'day Johan,
My X3L DVD is the only that I am aware of unfortunately.
Sorry re: link, we just ship out the physical copies - haven't set up any secure download type arrangement. Good idea though!
Cheers,
Steve
hi there... i live in bangkok, thailand and im definitely buying your DVD... how long will delivery take? and how much exactly do i have to pay? any hidden costs and taxes? thanks
Hi Jay,
The cost includes postage.
Not sure what the usual delivery time is from Australia to Thailand. I imagine being Christmas it may take slightly longer than usual.
There are no hidden costs that I am aware of and we have sold the majority of DVD's overseas.
Merry Christmas!
