Make your JTV a bass - Tip

I have used Workbench to make a useful bass for recording.  I haven't done this with the JTV but have with the Variax 600 and 700 so it should work even better with the JTV.

I used the Strat body and P-90 pickups with the pitch dropped an octave.  Use a high capacitor value on the tone control.  Use 2 pickups 1 for bridge and 1 for neck and set up switching to select 1 or the other or both.  Experiment with variations of the both pickups (series, parallel, in or out of phase).

The magic begins when you use the bass amp models in POD Farm to re-amp your bass recordings.  You'll be surprised how you can get a fairly useful bass sound from the Variax this way.  Of course string thumping, slapping and pulling don't really work, but for basic bass tracks it does a good job.

Cheers,
