If you want to play records through the spider jam then use the front cd/mp3 socket.

Even if you use the correct CD/MP3 jack, a turntable will not drive it. The CD/MP3 input is 'line level' whereas the output from a turntable needs to go through a RIAA equalised preamp to boost the signal to line level and level out the frequency response. You would have to use the line out facility of a hi-fi amplifier or a separate pre-amp for this to work. A CD player or MP3 player output can output at line level - not a turntable pickup!
I dont know if this would work but worth a try anyway. Take one of these http://www.amazon.com/Recoton-ACW339-Audio-Cable-Connector/dp/tech-data/B00006HOIT and run it from you record player to one of these http://www.amazon.com/Hosa-GPM-103-3-5mm-TRS-Adaptor/dp/B000068O3T then plug it in to your AUX input.
Stay in the mix and in the know.
