You can also get the information if you look up the POD X3 MANUAL under SUPPORT - PRODUCT MANUALS.

There is one manual for the POD X3 which covers the X3 PRO and X3 LIVE - so if your local music shop guy has an X3 then he also has the manual that contains the info for the POD X3.

To save you some time, I can tell you that the manual shows the POD X3 allows for two inputs.

One is a 1/4 inch jack input and one is an XLR mic input with TRIM control allowing you to adjust the input level.

So it is designed to have an instrument and a mic as its two input sources.  You can always use the "mic input" for another instrument if you connect the instrument via a DI box (or MIXER) and an XLR cable and set the trim control accordingly to adjust for signal strength (probably have Trim on Minimum setting).
