xt-live - disappeared all model packs (no more usb)

I have a big problem with my xt-live!

Disappeared all model packs (classic, metal, fx, bass.. yes even the standard fx!).. lcd says: - standard model set loaded - ; and connecting it via usb it is no longer recognized by my pc ..

It happened all at once ..

Could perhaps be a problem of a discharged buffer battery (if there is one)? or maybe some fuse gone?

I recently transferred from a bean XT all the model packs to the XTL .. and for days there was no problem, then I did a reflash (v3.01) due to a problem with my Variax (which ultimately was not needed), and everything still worked fine .. But today I had this nice Easter surprise..

Given its current market value, I doubt that it is worthwhile to bring it to a service center..

Anyone has any idea to suggest to me?

Thanks

the xt itself will be useable with no model packs... not great... but something...

i ended up with one like that, and sold it on ebay just disclosed the issue.. really only went for 20$ less than one that would have been perfect....

anyway... i ended up getting an x3 when this happened to me...

which includes all the models anyway....

but line6 support will help you transfer your model packs if you get another XT, so you'll be ok there.

    Hey hurghanico,

Many things can contribute to the cause of USB connectivity loss. Seems like everything was working correctly after the most recent re flash of the POD XT Live. So the question is, what had changed since it was last operational?

Having a Line 6 Service Center take a look at the device will give you a definite answer to the cause of this. To locate one in your area please follow the link below:

      http://line6.com/service_centers/

If you do end up replacing the unit with another POD XT Live, make sure and register the unit to this same account and contact us from there about replacing the model pack licenses.

However, keep in mind that like TheRealZap mentioned, if you purchase a POD X3, all the models are included. In addition, if you choose to go towards the HD series, model packs are not applicable.

      I hope this helps.

    Hi,

Sorry to hear you have had so many issues with the POD XT Live.

If the ESN of the unit reads all 0's it needs to be taken to an authorized service center for repair.

If you purchase another XT contact us and we can issue you new model packs.

It is up to you whether you get a new POD or not, but I can assure you I have never had any problems with the PODs I have owned.

Just reply to this thread when you have a new PODxt.

Replacement of the Secure Memory Chip is something that an Authorized Line 6 Service Center is capable of doing.

That's why we suggest going through them. We don't sell parts directly to users, unfortunately... the sales have to go through the Authorized Service Centers. Our authorized Line 6 Service techs have knowledge of how to do a SMC chip replacement. Once such a procedure has been done, we can then assist with your model pack licenses.

But the SMC replacement is something you'll need to go through the ASC. That is not a user-serviceable procedure, and we cannot provide instructions on how to do this public as per company policy, sorry.

tell them to change whatever they have to... to make it work...

and tell them that you won't pay over the initial estimate, and won't accept it back not working...

it's also possible that the ESN issue is a symptom and the USB controller is the disease...

i'd assume they SHOULD know what they are talking about....

It sounds like the device needs to get repaired to work correctly and taking to an authorized service center is your only option for that.  At this point, it sounds like you would need to make a decision on whether to get your PODxt Live fixed or just get a new one.

    Hey hurghanico,

From this point it seems like your best option would be to look into buying a new used device, instead of paying around the same cost to repair your current model.

If you end up purchasing this used POD XT Live, and experience issues when registering it, we can help you register the device to your account.

After losing the USB connectivity, and reading of it happening to quite a lot of pod users "USB controller not recognised etc", all options have been put out there. The high cost of repairing not being worth it and to buy a newer model pod, or to seek out a 2nd hand item the same and save money that way. The 3rd option, which Im choosing and hasnt been spoken of, is never buying anything associated with line 6 or pod again. And until my failure I was considering the new pod HD, line 6 amp and was even arguing over the merits of the line 6 variax guitars. But ultimately I want my product to last. And it didn't. That's good enough for me.
