Possible to use HD500 as MIDI interface to update M13?

I've got an M13, but haven't done the firmware updates yet. I've got my hands on an HD500 at the moment: Is it possible to do a computer>HD500 MIDI interface>M13 connection to get the job done? If so, are there any special settings required?
