POD Studio UX1 not connecting to POD Farm 2.5 running on Windows 7 64 bit Desktop PC

Desktop PC will not connect to my newly acquired POD Studio UX1 device. Able to playback instrument through UX1 from PC but POD Farm does not connect (no channels selections shown for Tone A/B). Instrument connects and can hear playback but tonepacks not working. Able to direct internal sound card to external UX1 for normal playback of PC sound.
Software reinstalled as well as drivers to no avail. All drivers and software up to date using Line 6 Monkey v 1.4. However Gearbox does appear to work (tonepacks active) although it makes the Windows 7 64bit system unstable causing crashes, lockups and Windows fails to shutdown properly using manual Shutdown. In summary the product is unuseable
However, have connected device with some success to my Windows 7 64 bit laptop although having problems with apparent latency (CPU speed step must be disabled and run at full speed 2.7 GHz to get reasonable playback but latency still present depsite Tone Direct active), and low input gain - using passive pups (Fender Strat) perhaps getting 20% of FSD with max gain/volume. Similarly, active acoustic Fishman only manages perhaps 30% of FSD.
Could my UX1 device be faulty?
Correction. The version of Win7 running on my PC is 32 bit not 64 bit. Being a Linux user I almost never use Windows so forgot PC had 32 bit Win7 installed from the shop. The laptop is running Win7 64 bit and runs the tonepacks at least. So the issue appears to be with Win 7 32 bit running Farm 2.5 and I will try to drop back to 2.02. Failing that it seems my UX1 won't work on my PC until a fix is available. What a pain!
Hey theguzza,
Please try removing any additional unnecessary USB and firmware devices from your computer when troubleshooting this issue. Make sure to connect it directly to a USB port and not a USB hub, extension, or keyboard of any kind, preferably connect it to a USB port on the rear of computer. Try using additional USB cables and every USB port available.
Download the Line 6 Monkey to make sure all of your other hardware and software components are up to date, it is available for free download from the link below:
Please download and install our new tool Line 6 License Manager, which is available for free download from the link below:
http://line6.com/software/index.html
Once you have installed it successfully, launch it and login to your Line 6 User account. Then all you have to do is authorize your computer and your UX1.
To regain inputs in POD Farm 2.5 please try the following:
-Launch POD Farm 2.5 with your UX1 connected to your USB port.
-After the program launches, disconnect the USB cable from the UX1 for about 5 seconds.
-Replug the USB cable into the UX1.
-Open the preferences menu from the file menu.
-Reselect your UX1 and click apply.
-You should then see the Inputs tab appear and now receive sound.
If you are experiencing latency you may lower the buffer size on the Line 6 AUDIO-MIDI device menu located on the control panel.
Please let us know if you are still having issues.
Hi Line6Don
Thanks for the reply. I tried all those things without success on my WIn7 (Home Premium) 32 bit machine. All s/ware was up to date and registered correctly but UX1 and POD Farm 2.5 stubbornly refused to shake hands no matter what I tried. I uninstalled 2.5 and installed 2.02 and it worked faultlessly without fuss! Interestingly input gain appears to be much higher with POD Farm plug-in under Ableton Live Lite 7 compared with standalone version (no input gain pot) so I assume the input is somehow attenuated via s/ware in the standalone version. No decernible latency, although Ableton LL7 quotes a total round trip time of 23ms for 80% CPU usage and 256k buffer size.
In summary PF v 2.5 doesn't seem to work with 32bit Win7, at least not on my box so I'll stick with 2.02 for now.
That's it. It does work ! Thank you
It didn,t work for me. Well it did in part but after that the sound was popping and hicupping was pretty much unlistable. Now my UX1 doesn't want to initialise at all with UX1 connected. If I take the UX1 out of the equation I can get them both Pod Farm 1.12 and Podfarm 2.5 to start up but then they dont contain my Powerpack add on. Therefore all my Line 6 gear apart from my Pod HD are unusuable because I downloaded the Podfarm 2.5. What a mess and still waiting for some response from Line 6.
