Here we go.... JAM1

Please see the attached jam backing track.  it's the best one I could find, and I think it will be a good one when we've recorded over the top.

So please see the group announce about jam recordings and give it a go, and reply to this thread with your recordings, and tone files.

Cheers

Rowbi

Tempo? It's for us anal type of people who want to sync our effects or what not.

I don't know how this works so I just jammed on the whole track. I don't know if some of us take a section or what. Here's what I did after one run through. This is my first take. Ignore the bum notes please. LOL

oh.... I used a Variax 600 (spank model) and POD Farm.

I'll record the track again according to the way it's supposed to be done. I do have the guitar track I could send ya. It's just I recorded the total effect from the POD Farm plugin and not 'dry" to be reamped later.  LOL I've done this before on other web sites it's just that everyone does it differently....

I'll post the dry tracks and my POD Farm settings when I'm done.

anyone else joining in? I really like the slow part of the song and would love just playing on all or half of it if there arn't that many takers.

Is there a little glitch right about at 1:32 or was my download bad?

hey Rowbi, when do you need the tracks? I would sent them out but it seems we're about to have a thunderstorm and I'm not pluging my DAW up.

          Re: Here we go.... JAM1

Actually I didnt do any cutting and pasting cause even though you could make that work, any error could upset the timing. First I tried using the healing brush tool in Audition and wasn't satisfied with the results...so instead I dumped the file into iZotope RX which has some great repair tools. I used the spectral repair ...after that I was left with a repaired WAV file that was much to large (39mb) so I ran that WAV back through Audition and saved it as an MP3(3.35mb).

Anyhow I was thinking of building a track with my KB37 consisting of some synth parts or do you only want guitar tracks? Just thought I should ask.

BTW if you have any files that need similar repairs done just let me know.

Cool, Sonic--I was wondering the easiest way to go about fixing that...thanks.

    Hey Rowbi!

Do you want people just to jam over this track and upload it?

    Or specifically use something?

    I couldn't find instructions anywhere?

        Okay cool.

I might pick a section to jam over and lay something down.

    Re: Here we go.... JAM1

    Hi Rowbi,

Got your e-mail invitation to join the jam group.  I thought that I could give it a try with this JAM1.   In view of my age (born 1946) I've a quite different taste in guitar sounds, more looking for sixties guitar instrumentals sounds.  But I think all sorts of guitar sounds and styles can have a go.

I've made a mix of the whole jam mp3 with my guitar playing (mlajam),  then there are the wet and dry guitar recordings (mlajamwet - mlajamdry), together with the POD Farm tone file.

For the dry recording I have the 18 dB boost on in the POD Farm mixer setting. When I use the POD Farm VST in the DAW, I lower the input volume in the VST with about 18 dB.

    Cheers,

    Mathieu

        Hi Rowbi:

Hope this file works--just got Reaper and not real familiar with it yet. I recorded this pretty dry, and feel free to do with it what you like--or nothing at all!

Just track six is any good!

Reaper is still pretty Beta for the Mac--hard to convert to MP3.

Did the two Mp3 files in Garageband.

The "Both Tracks" one is OK, especially like the part from about 3:00 to the end.

How is the Mac? You like it for music? Been thinking about getting one.

I really like using a Mac--mainly it's very intuitive and no worry about viruses--yet.  I still don't really have the music thing down very well.  GarageBand is very easy, but doesn't have a lot of options. Logic is the better DAW, but when I got my version, it had a bug and I have wasted a lot of time trying to figure it out. Reaper seems very easy to use, but isn't all the way up to speed on the Mac--hopefully it will be soon. I haven't tried Digital Performer, but it's supposed to be good.

I do really like the Mac OS. I will definitely be getting another Mac when I can afford it.

    Re: Here we go.... JAM1

Well, here's an attempt at the sections from 1:14 to 2:24 or so. I really havent had time to work anything out for this section, work has been crazy and with band practice and such time is very limited. But, I said I'd have something out by tonight, and I like to stay true to my word. So, I sat down and freestyled a few times and picked the best one. Sorry for the sloppy playing and such, if you dont want to use it, I promise that's fine by me. Just posting a clip of the section right now. I'll post my actual guitar track momentarily.

      Re: Here we go.... JAM1

well i figured out how to lay a riff down while recording and playing back jam 1. all i had to do was select edit from the menu and then select overdub from the dropdown list. simple yet obscure. now i have to figure out how to upload the file to the web site. rowbi, i know your probably mixing the cut but i'm going to try and upload anyway, just for practice; as soon as i record somethig i like. im not used to jamming in D.
