Please see the attached jam backing track. it's the best one I could find, and I think it will be a good one when we've recorded over the top.
So please see the group announce about jam recordings and give it a go, and reply to this thread with your recordings, and tone files.
Cheers

Tempo? It's for us anal type of people who want to sync our effects or what not.![]()
never mind......I figured it out.....110 bpm.
thanks geeker. I'll have a listen to that.
maybe have a read of the main announcement here: http://line6.com/community/groups/rowbis-online-jam-group?view=overview
and if you can in the future, always try to record a wet and a dry track, and include your tone file. then if others also record a track, I can mix bits from each persons track, and maybe re-amp if needed to make it all sit right...
but I'll come back to you shortly when I've listened to your track.
Cheers

Ok Rowbi. I check the main page and I didn't see any guidelines. It'll be cool if ya posted one as a document and then newbies like me won't screw it up. LOL![]()
good call, I'll create a document now.
I don't know how this works so I just jammed on the whole track. I don't know if some of us take a section or what. Here's what I did after one run through. This is my first take. Ignore the bum notes please. LOL![]()
oh.... I used a Variax 600 (spank model) and POD Farm.

sounds good geeker. if you get another chance this weekend, etc. can you record your guitar track seperately so the backing track isn't in it, so when me and some other dudes record some takes, we can mix them up a bit, and take some parts of each recording.
that aside you've certainly got the chops
and you've done a great jam on your own
Cheers
Rowbi
I'll record the track again according to the way it's supposed to be done. I do have the guitar track I could send ya. It's just I recorded the total effect from the POD Farm plugin and not 'dry" to be reamped later. LOL I've done this before on other web sites it's just that everyone does it differently.... ![]()
I'll post the dry tracks and my POD Farm settings when I'm done.![]()
anyone else joining in? I really like the slow part of the song and would love just playing on all or half of it if there arn't that many takers.

no worries geeker. you don't need to re-record it if you have the guitar track on its own, that'll be enough for me this time ![]()
got some jeff beck goin' there geeker
Thanks!!!!! I was going for that in some sections. I love Jeff beck.![]()
see what i mean? i can barely lay dow a backing track for me to jam over let alone follow what you guys just said. but i'll keep on paying attention.
Rowbi will yake care of ya. He's got some cool videos on youtube and hopfully he'll post a "how to" soon.
i'll be waiting for him
Is there a little glitch right about at 1:32 or was my download bad?
it looks like it's a glitch in the file, which I got from guitarbt.com which is a real shame.. but let's still continue with it, as it's just a jam, and it doesn't seem to really affect the timing, I'll make sure next timw I choose a backing track, that there's no glitches ![]()
hey Rowbi, when do you need the tracks? I would sent them out but it seems we're about to have a thunderstorm and I'm not pluging my DAW up. ![]()

hey no worries man, there's no rush. i think I kind of missed a trick this time. as with the old jams, there was a session of users saying they'll join in the jam, and then it was announced that there was now enough people for the jam, etc. i will so that next time, but for now there's not enough interest to worry about that.... we'll just play it by ear :-)
Hello everyone...say I repaired that glitch at 1:32, hope this works for you all ![]()

Sonic
that's cool.
I'll replace the copy of it in the first post now.
what did you do to it in the end? I'm assuming you cut out a small piece of audio? i guess I'll need to do that to any recordings made with the old track... so if geeker's listening, perhaps this needs taking into account... but just send me what you already have and I'll do what I can ![]()
Actually I didnt do any cutting and pasting cause even though you could make that work, any error could upset the timing. First I tried using the healing brush tool in Audition and wasn't satisfied with the results...so instead I dumped the file into iZotope RX which has some great repair tools. I used the spectral repair ...after that I was left with a repaired WAV file that was much to large (39mb) so I ran that WAV back through Audition and saved it as an MP3(3.35mb).
Anyhow I was thinking of building a track with my KB37 consisting of some synth parts or do you only want guitar tracks? Just thought I should ask.
BTW if you have any files that need similar repairs done just let me know. ![]()
Cool, Sonic--I was wondering the easiest way to go about fixing that...thanks.
all sounds like hocus pocus to me, lol ![]()

thanks for the repair.
well synth is ok, although i had initially thought of the jam as just guitars, if you have nothing better to do, lay down a track and I'll see if I can fit it in somewhere ![]()
Hey Rowbi!
Do you want people just to jam over this track and upload it?
Or specifically use something?
I couldn't find instructions anywhere?

welcome to the jam mr ninja
well anything goes really, and I'll try to fit in a bit of everyone who jams, as long as it's not like 100 people, lol.
basically i will need at least a wet recorded track of just the guitar. but better still is a wet track, and the dry track, and your POD tone that you used on the wet track. then I can tweak the tone a little if needed to make the different people playing fit together better.
take a look on the home page for this group, and you'll see there's some documents on how to record this stuff, but I'm sure you already knot more than me There's also an announcement that basically says what I just have above.: http://line6.com/community/groups/rowbis-online-jam-group

Rowbi
Okay cool.
I might pick a section to jam over and lay something down.

well feel free to do a jam over the whole thing. it naturally has sections, and i can then mix and match, etc.
Cheers

can ya post a list of people that are confirmed for this jam?
geeker wrote:

ah.... well I kinda forgot about that bit...
well i guess there's you (Geeker), me, maybe sonicrevolution with some synth (not confirmed yet), twelvefootninja, insidian, donfrantz, and possibly toneman2121.
if any of the maybe's want to please confirm.... but I think for now that's enough people (Well spotted Geeker).
And also to anyone... don't forget this group is yours too, so start a jam thread, and post a backing track in the thread, and away we go. I'll also be doing more as time goes on.... but a word of advice, perhaps have a period of asking 'who wants to be in the jam' then you know what's going on... unlike what I've just done, and realised we may have too many people for the 6 sections in this jam... LOL
Cheers

Hi Rowbi,
Got your e-mail invitation to join the jam group. I thought that I could give it a try with this JAM1. In view of my age (born 1946) I've a quite different taste in guitar sounds, more looking for sixties guitar instrumentals sounds. But I think all sorts of guitar sounds and styles can have a go.
I've made a mix of the whole jam mp3 with my guitar playing (mlajam), then there are the wet and dry guitar recordings (mlajamwet - mlajamdry), together with the POD Farm tone file.
For the dry recording I have the 18 dB boost on in the POD Farm mixer setting. When I use the POD Farm VST in the DAW, I lower the input volume in the VST with about 18 dB.
Cheers,
Mathieu

wow I'm really liking that... good work. I will try to make a mix when a few more people have posted something... hey if we get too many, then I'll make 2 jams ![]()
Thanks

Hi Rowbi:
Hope this file works--just got Reaper and not real familiar with it yet. I recorded this pretty dry, and feel free to do with it what you like--or nothing at all!![]()
Just track six is any good!
Reaper is still pretty Beta for the Mac--hard to convert to MP3.
Did the two Mp3 files in Garageband.
The "Both Tracks" one is OK, especially like the part from about 3:00 to the end.
How is the Mac? You like it for music? Been thinking about getting one.
![]()
I really like using a Mac--mainly it's very intuitive and no worry about viruses--yet. I still don't really have the music thing down very well. GarageBand is very easy, but doesn't have a lot of options. Logic is the better DAW, but when I got my version, it had a bug and I have wasted a lot of time trying to figure it out. Reaper seems very easy to use, but isn't all the way up to speed on the Mac--hopefully it will be soon. I haven't tried Digital Performer, but it's supposed to be good.
I do really like the Mac OS. I will definitely be getting another Mac when I can afford it.
cool tone -
Well, here's an attempt at the sections from 1:14 to 2:24 or so. I really havent had time to work anything out for this section, work has been crazy and with band practice and such time is very limited. But, I said I'd have something out by tonight, and I like to stay true to my word. So, I sat down and freestyled a few times and picked the best one. Sorry for the sloppy playing and such, if you dont want to use it, I promise that's fine by me. Just posting a clip of the section right now. I'll post my actual guitar track momentarily.

can someone tell me how to playback and record at the same time in audacity. when i try to record with jam 1, i can record alright but i can't hear the backing track. makes it a little difficult to get the timing right. i have tried but to no avail
well i figured out how to lay a riff down while recording and playing back jam 1. all i had to do was select edit from the menu and then select overdub from the dropdown list. simple yet obscure. now i have to figure out how to upload the file to the web site. rowbi, i know your probably mixing the cut but i'm going to try and upload anyway, just for practice; as soon as i record somethig i like. im not used to jamming in D.
thanks guys... i've been a bit busy the last few days, but I'll try to get some mixingdone in a couple of days...
anyone else who'd like to be in the first draft of jam 1, please get your recordings posted here ready for me to start on, on Wednesday evening here in the UK, as I think that's when I'm going to have a whole evening free to give it a few hours that I can dedicate to it.
Cheers Rowbi
Is this Jam done?![]()

i've corrected the link. damn forum quirks.

cheers

hey Rowbi, I hope you don't mind me using the backing track with me soloing over it on myspace. I like what I did that much!!! lol
