Where can I try a DT50????  Clearwater, FL

I went to three stores in the area yesterday and none of them had or have ever had any version of the DT50 in stock.  As a matter of fact, I had to explain to the salesmen what it was.  The stores were Best Buy, Sam Ash (huge selection of other amps), and Guitar Center.  The closest Guitar Center that has one is in the Miami area which is 6+ hours away.

My only option that I see is to order one from Guitar Center and return it in 30 days if I don't like it.  I don't really want to do that, but it may be all I can do.

Does any store in my area have one?  Is there anyone that plays out around here that I can even go see live?

All the demos on youtube that I can find show guys playing a tele (I use humbuckers and play a variety of rock stuff) or they are talking most of the time showing all the option instead of really going through sounds and giving the amp a true demo.

I already have an HD500 but I have two bands that want me to join now and after playing through a 4x12 the other night, my Mackie thump is not going to cut it in a band situation.

Please give me some suggestions or links to better demos online.

Thanks!!

The Doug Doppler Series is very informative, concerning the DT-50 and HD 500 connectivity.

I was lucky to hear a DT-50 at a local retailer in the DC/Maryland area. Not long after, I ordered mine on-line from a Big Instrument retailer. They would have let me return in 30 days if I wasnt happy.I had a few issues with damage from UPS, but the retailer replaced it immediately, and all in all Im very happy with the DT-50.

I can assure you, it works equally well with Humbucker or single coils, and can accomodate Metal to Bluegrass easily.

The real thrill will be when you hook up your HD500 through Line 6 Link to the DT-50. All of your patches that you have already created will work great, with the DT-50 automatically configuring it's analog Circuits to match the Preamp/Amp settings within each patch. I didn't grasp this really at first. But I pulled up a "Brown Sound" Van Halen type patch, and the DT-50 changed the topology to IV, like a Bogner, and the triode/Pentode, and Class A, A/B modes along with my EQ settings, that I had been using when playing through my Tech 21's. I didnt do anything except select the patch. Then I selected a ZZ Top type Patch I had that was using an AC 30 type model. The DT-50 changed the Topology to III, and the Class, and Tube Biasing as necessary without me having to think about it.

The opposite works also. change the Topology, Biasing, EQ, and Mode etc on the amp to just how you like it, add any effects on the HD 500 then save the patch. Its awesome.

    .

As you already have the HD 500, purchasing the DT-50 can make your addition of a great Tube amp very easy. And it will surely be loud enough to gig with your new band.

    Good Luck with it.
