Recording

Is anyone recording using their MK I Spider Valve?  What set ups are you using?

Your best bet is to mic it for recording like you would any other amp. You can direct record out the XLR silently, but you bypass the power tubes.

I can't imagine getting recording quality out of a line 6 amp.  I would really, really suggest going with a VST plugin.  Line 6 makes some of the best.  I would only mic an amp if it was the real amp, with a real cab, in a real room.  And even then I'd probably grab a dry signal for VST... because compared side by side the VST track might be the winner.

I see Line 6 amps having the most value in a live concert situation.  Where you are getting almost the real thing, but all in one amp.  Easy, consolidated, and affordable.

    That's just my $0.02

    Good luck!

Hey I've actually had some really good luck recording with the SV112 by doing something a little simple, Hook it up thru its XLR Direct out, yes yes i know this bypasses the power tubes, however to counter that HUGE flaw, i also mic it, now, i'm a poor guy on a poor mans budget so the mic's ive tried are the tired and trued shure sm57 but i've also been playing alot with the Senheiser e609 and what i've done is have both the mic and direct out each on differect channels, the direct out, lacks that "grit" and bassy sound for some good rock or metal, its high it treb to me anyways, BUT with the cab mic'd u get the deeper Grit and bassy sound u like (sometimes a bit to much depending on certain factors) but magic seems to happen when you blend your two channels together...its something to try....everyone else might hate it, me, i'm a poor man on a poor mans budget and it does get some decent sounds outta it i think....enjoy
