Bought HD PRO

Man, I hated running power and cables to the front of the stage for my HD 500 and wireless. Since I run the HD 500 in stereo into my Mesa 50/50 and DT50 4x12 cab, which is modded to stereo, I was running too many cables and ended up with too much cr*p out front. It was a PITA for quick set ups and tear downs when playing with multiple bands.
Now it will just be one of my FBV shortboards out front with one CAT 5 running to it. I have always had the Mesa 50/50 rack mounted, now I will have the HD Pro in there, too, with a Furman power conditoner, and the wireless G50 sitting on top, but plugged into the Furman and the HD Pro, and out of the way.
Oh yeah...I'll have an on/off switch, too...lol!
$699 at Sweetwater...worth the convenience to me, obviously.
Keep an eye on eBay for a good deal on a well taken care of HD500...![]()
Yep - all those things are advantages for your preferred type of rig.
Nice. That's pretty much how I intend doing it too.
Your existing HD500 patches should work fine - you may need to change the input settings, but everything else should remain the same throughout
Enjoy

Hey Nick-Do you mean that my input settings on the Pro may be different than what I have set on my HD 500, or that I would need to change them on the Pro from default to what I have now on my 500?

Ooops...didn't think about the weight...![]()
In general the input settings will probably be fine as they are from how you had them in your HD500, but the Pro has extra inputs so in some cases you may need to switch them.
The transfer of patches, set lists and bundles between the POD HD500, POD HD Pro and POD HD desktop is possible but because of differences in the hardware architecture like ins and outs it's not possible to guarantee that patches from one unit in the 'family' will always work the same way when loaded into another member of the 'family' so whilst it is possible to interchange patches between these three units, it's not supported as such because of the possibility of unexpected behaviour, so when you transfer patches between the units you do it at your own risk
Saying that - all my HD500 patches work OK in the HD Pro and sound the same, but because of the way I had the inputs configured in some of them on the HD500, I have had to switch the inputs to match when those patches are loaded into the HD Pro

I have a 50/50 too and I'm thinking of a similar setup. I like the idea of not having a bunch of cords all over. Just plug up the connectors in the back and you're ready. You won't even have to do that, just plug in the cat 5 and your power. Only thing is that rack is gonna weigh at least 55 lbs and I don't want to lug that around, especially if I don't need to bring my amp (I usually leave it at the practice space). But you also have a 4x12, so you're used to it ;-) I already have the 50/50 in it's own 2U rack, so it'd be easier for me to use a 2nd rack for the Pro or whatever I get, compressor, power, and wireless. That should be just over 30lbs, much more user-friendly.
Man, that looks just like mine would... except that my Mesa is missing one of the Presence knobs ;-)

you should have got the x3 pro so you could have filled out the rack (3u) hahah ![]()
Then I wouldn't have any place to put that 10 foot long power cord from the Mesa...![]()
you can fill it out AND have space for the power hord with one of these: http://www.techtoolsupply.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=ROY1243
not that it would help your tone any ![]()
Good idea!
Or...
You could buy a pre-punched 19" rack bay and add 1/4" jacks/XLR sockets and an Ethercon connection to make a patch bay and bring some of the back panel connections to the front. I'm probably going to do that at some point.
I've seen it done in pics and it looks really good as well as making some of the i/o such as VDI or FBV port accessible from the front. I think one of the other Experts may have done this with his POD HD Pro but don't quote me on that as I'm not 100% sure.
