M13 foot switches

Hi,

Can I purchase a foot switch for an M13, and can I install it myself just by removing the the switch from the top panel?

    We do not provide the footswitches for the M13.  This would be an involved procedure and we only recommend taking it to an authorized service center to repair this for you:

    I think it will fit. If you want to do it yourself (M13 off warranty of course) this is not a big deal as there is nothing to desolder on the PCB.

    Phil is correct; those are not the switches for the M-series units. The correct switches have an LED integrated into the assembly and is more of a spring-loaded (not stomp-click) feeling switch).

     

    Our Parts Admin just alerted that they should be made available for sale on our webstore in the very near future; just no concrete ETA available as of my posting here. Hope this clarifies things up for you.

      I just want to add my vote for M9 (should be the same as M13) replacement switches to be made available for purchase by we end users.

       

      I love my new M9, but the known reputation for these switches to go bad on the XT/X3 floor units made me think hard about purchasing it. I'm not going to wait weeks or months for a service center to fix something (for a fee if it's out of warranty) that an electronics geek such as myself can fix especially when I'm a gigging guitarist.

        FWIW, even though the switches on the M13 and M9 are the same as on the XTL (the XTL had the big plastic actuators, similar to the Boss GT series), the design of the support structure underneath was changed since the time the X3L was released. The newer switches seem to be much less likely to fail than the original design. That's not to say there still won't be issues. But I don't think it's all that common.

         

        I look at it this way - virtually every floor-based product Line 6 makes at the moment is using this switch. I can't imagine that they would do that if they knew the switch itself was inherently flawed. Having a bunch of broken products in the world would do nothing but hurt them.

    Mine have gone too, on my HD-500.   Sadly it has just fallen out of the support period.  Line 6 makes a great consumer grade product, but gigging with it takes it's toll.  What do you want for $500 bucks?

     

    Since I've built a couple of pedals and a Fender 5E7 clone I opened mine up, it's pretty simple inside.  The momentary contact switches definately are a wear item on any bit of electronics gear.

     

    Line 6 gave me the same service center advice but I've not found one that would sell me the part.  Here's one that looks to have a good duty cycle and be waterproof to beat: http://www.alibaba.com/product-gs/670172365/PCB_Mount_Push_Button_Switch_Waterproof.html  but it's SMD.  If I find something through hole (or Line 6 tells me the part ;-)) and get it to work I'll post here.

     

    If you are careful with a soldering iron and can work on PCB's with 6mil etch seems like you could do this fix.
