POD HD - Want a looper pedal

Hello,
I just got my new POD HD and am loving the sweet sounds. Coming from a POD 2 the HD is a bit overwhelming if you're not familiar with all the available gear and where to put it in the signal chain. I really want to start using the looper to do some bedroom jamming but need a pedal to engage it.
I really like the FBV express MKII because it's small, good price, and gives me the basics however I've read some posts that this will not work with the HD bean http://line6.com/support/thread/74267 . Can someone confirm this? And is my only alternative to pay twice as much for the bigger shortboard?
Thanks,
Jen
Good question. I think there are conflicting opinions here.
This one seems pretty definitive, although not what you want to hear........

But in the thread you refer to, post #4 (also from Line 6) suggest that you can do it, and points to very specific information in the manual about how to do it.
There's one way the two comments can be reconciled: you can control the Looper with the FBV Express, but you can't turn it on/off that way. You have to turn it on/off manually.
... and, it seems that there's a known bug in the implementation of this feature that should be fixed in an upcoming firmware release, so for now at least the answer is no..........
hmm...thanks for the quick response. I guess i'll have to wait till they get the bugs worked out. Looper not much use without a pedal ![]()
So next question. Is there anyway I can use the looper on my HD Bean in the most common way, with a footswitch (start record, stop record, playback, jam, etc.) without purchasing the $200 FBV shortboard?
Thanks,
Jen
Yes, you should be able to use the FBV Express after the bug is fixed (whenever that may be). Until then I don't know of any solution.
...... except for the creative yoga-pretzels who use their toes to operate the Looper buttons on the HD.
Don't laugh - people do it!
+1...I have done it...takes a little practice, but then I really only ever use the looper to goof around...
I am not sure if you realize just how much a shortboard opens up the HD bean...The ability to map the footswitches how ever I like, gang up stomps on one button, make FX mutually exclusive is something that is very new about the HD bean...XT did not do this...I can't imagine using the HD bean without a shortboard...There is a lot more that looper control in there and it is greatly expanded in terms of how you can use it compared to the XT generation...
I would consider it, but kinda short on funds now
I really only want a few functions on the floor (mainly looper) because I just like to jam with tracks and record songs on my DAW. I'm not in a band so I don't need all the functions accessable to my foot. I have my small "bedroom" studio which is crammed with so much gear already I have very little room on the floor for something that big. I'll just wait.....Hope it doesn't take as long as it did for them to fix the Pocket Pod bug ![]()
