tech 21 power engines

How well would a pair of 60watt Tech21 Power Engines work for amplifying my HD500?

It seems like the output of the HD500 is lower than my XTLive.

I love the HD500...anyone have any clues? I use the balanced outputs...I have a Variax 300.

From what I've read in the forums, the tech 21 PE60 is a really good sounding way to amplify the HD500 (and my Variax 300 - I call it the poor mans dream rig :). That's why my PE60s are arriving by UPS today!  You'll have to experiment with the type of output signal - most seem to use the power amp output setting, but I've read of some using the studio/direct setting.  It sounds like they're plenty loud, but you will want to use 1/4" outs unless you have two of them - XLR is right or left channel, but 1/4" sums to mono.
