Release Notes:
"proprietary enhancements"????
There is also an update for the M9 available. This is the first time, since updating my new unit when purchased, that i've done this sort of updating. I used SYSEX librarian to "backup" my M9 using Dump All.
Then used Line 6 Monkey to do the update.
When I tried to reload my scenes, it never took. I lost all my set ups
Really sucks! Good thing is I only really had Scene 1A set up perfectly and was able to mostly reprogram it but I really feel like this is a huge set back and worries me that I can't back up my settings!
Anyone have this issue? any tips on getting it to work? is there better software for Mac OS X to backup data?
P.S. BTW, I don't notice anything different about my unit so far. The volume spike problem still exists if not set to true bypass. I was hoping that for my efforts and loss I'd get some new effects out of the deal!
I use SysEx Librarian on my Mac for shaking hands with the M13 (just like back in '95 with my Opcode LX!) - http://www.snoize.com/SysExLibrarian/
I was a bit nervous about doing the update too with over 15 scenes of finely-tuned sonic goodness at stake, but after the lighting of incense, special prayers and a witch doctor's blessing, thankfully all went well. You need to make sure that when you back-up to your Mac that you choose the Record Many option instead of Record One in your SysEx software. If you don't, you'll only end up with your first scene restored and the rest set back to factory defaults. Line 6, for the life of me I don't understand why you couldn't have made this easier with basic librarian software LIKE ON ALL OF YOUR OTHER HARDWARE. Shame on you!
Yes, I'm using SysEx Librarian. I set it to record many. I set the M9 to dump all. It took an appropriate amount of time and was larger than just a 158 byte scene, more like 300kb.
I then tried to restore after the update only to find nothing happened after it seemed like, once again, an appropriate amount of time. The screen indicated it was receiving MIDI data but when done, it was factory presets still there. Did I miss something? I still have that SysEx file in the library, can I try again? Was I supposed to do anything else after hitting play on the librarian interface? turn off the M9 and back on?
I really wish Line 6 could have done a better job with connectivity too. I originally bought a TC Electronics G-System based on the fact that it's USB and had an editor program Mac OS X compatible. It turned out to be too complicated for my needs and I happily got an M9, which I love but now I'm back to reprogramming all my sounds!! ![]()
Hmmm, not sure why your back up file didn't work unless there was a mix up in the cabling or something. Do you have more than one level of scene pages on the M9? The M13 has 4 banks each consisting of 12 scenes. If you do, try knobbing up a level or two and see if they are in there.
Hey! I'll try that! It's entirely possible while setting up I ended up in Folder 2 or 3 or 4! I hope that's the solution! Thanks!
Nope, still no luck. It was not a folder issue. I wrote down all my settings (that I reset on the Scene 1A Folder 1 since I lost it after the non-backup) and tried reloading the "backup" file. And nothing changed at all. It was still the scene that I just set up. ![]()
So I don't know what is wrong. Is there something I'm not doing right? I've followed the sysex and line 6 instructions to a tee
arg!
What MIDI interface are you using? Mac or PC?
Mac OS X 10.6.xx
Lexicon I-Onix U22
SysEx Lib saw my interface, Line 6 Monkey saw it and did the update flawlessly
Thanks for helping on this!
Since the update worked, the problem is somewhere in the loop going from your M9 to the computer and back again. Is there a control panel on your Mac for the Lex? If so, check and see if there is any MIDI filtering option anywhere. If you're seeing data being saved in the Librarian window, something might be getting stripped out of the data signal from the M9 via the interface/software.
How many files is SysEx Librarian saving when you initiate the Dump? What's the size of the file when completed? I'll compare with mine.
You're SURE that you are using the Dump All command and not the Dump Folders or Dump Scene on the M9?
Well this thread got terribly highjacked with ZERO answers to the OT?
Anyone know exactly what else has been updated?
