Yellow Jackets as Replacement Tubes

Okay time to replace power tubes and I am reading up on Yellow Jacket converters. Since I prefer the Class A sound it seems like an ideal exchange but I've never bought these and have no idea if they would work or fit due to height?

So has anyone done this with success and like what they heard?

I own the SVMKII HD100 and am wondering if I could just use it on the middle two sockets and  just the leave the outer tubes empty?

I did a search and could only find others curious about same thing but no one who's actually done it.

there's an article somewhere from L6 about pulling 2 tubes.  do a search and you'll see it.

as far as using different tubes, I've spoken with a Line 6 tech before, and he told me that because Bogner's tube amps are basically hot-rodded already, that he wouldn't advise making changes to the the tubes.  So for that reason he said to only use the exact tupe of tubes that come in the amp as replacements.  So for example replacing the 5881WXT's that come in SV's with 6L6GC tubes wouldn't be a good idea... but replacing with 5881 tubes (the same as the WXT aparently but with a shorter base) would be ok, but the tube spring retainer would need to be shorter.

just letting you know what I know :-)

My brother put a pair of GT Power Reducers (same thing) in his old 60 watt Ampeg...Really a night and day difference...The little bit of reading I have done, you can actually run Simul-Class if you want to...put in a pair of Yellow jackets and a Pair of 6L6/5881s...They work pretty well in a combo, but they are a bit tall...I love the EL84 vibe I am getting out of the DT25...I think it would be a cool move for an SV if they could fit...Just using only 2 would basically give you a 15 watt amp...That would be a lot of power reduction...
