Variaxes in the public eye

I was watching the PBS "Back to the 60's"  special and I noticed a number of folks using Variaxes.  In particular, the lead players from Herman's Hermits and The Kingsman were playing what looked like Vax 600's or 700's.  Does anyone else have any professional sitings?  I use my 500 and JTV59 all the time.  Most people think the JTV59 is a Les Paul and that the Vax 500 is a strat missing the pickups.

Very cool sighting. How about Adrian Belew with his Fly powered by Variax. How the hell else could he get all those tones out of a Fly?

Sad part is I have seen few Variaxes in the hands of big name players, even ones that would easily benefit. The few exceptions I have seen were players that were asked by Line 6 to play one. One reason i guess is big name players many times have endorsement deals elsewhere.

Yah!  Big name players tend to go with the Big money endorsements, I myself have only seen a few notable guitarists sporting a Variax over the years and I'm sure that many top guitarist record with them but are reluctant to use them live because as some of us know, the Variax can be a bit problematic at times. However I do see quite a few working musicians playing them in clubs, at concerts and on TV. Lets not forget about all the Variax transplants being used at all sorts of venues that we're unaware of and don't notice.
