It should be listed on line 6 monkey as to what version your running..
thx^^
ill check after work -.-
Just did yesterday. Haven't played with it much. Save you bundle and setlists and any individual patches you want before you upgrade. There are lots of new patches in the new bundle, of note a Bass/Acoustic/Vox set list. There are only 3 User sets instead of 4. After updating, save your new bundle. I have a gig Tuesday and am having to spend time making sure my setlist and tones are all set up.
Good Luck
Downloaded the new flash v1.40 update yesterday. Saved all my user setlists for reloading prior to doing the update and then reloaded them afterward. Needed to rename a few of the setlists from the POD GUI screen, but easy to do.
The new input impedance settings options definitely affect the tone. The default settings seems to be 1M ohm, a fairly high setting. The "auto" setting option which is supposed to match the impedance of the first device in your signal chain, appears to be selecting the max impedance of 3.5M ohms into either a gate or OD pedal. This setting really drives the input the signal chain. There are 8 settings available from the 3rd system settings screen, ranging from 22K to 3.5M. I've chosen lower settings for my patches (35k or 70k) for the contemporary/modern worship songs we play.
The preset vs global option for input routing will be helpful when using my acoustic and electric in the same set. I won't have to ensure the volume is down on my acoustic when it's sitting on the stand. Don't use the MIDI controls, but those who do will love the new functionality there.
The new Bass/Aco/Voc setlist provides great presets for bass and acoustic guitar that will bring the HD500 back in line with the X3Live. I auditioned a few of the bass and acoustic settings and they sound great. Line 6 has included presets for acoustic guitar and vocal configs for singer/songwriter performances. Great stuff!
Don't put off the upgrade. It's always best to be working from the latest software version for the drivers and flash to get all of the bug fixes and enable Line 6 support to assist if needed.
Thanks Line 6 for the continued product development and support!
Am not in love right now with the 1.40 update. I loaded it following the save bundle first instruction, however, a screen came up when I was exiting asking if I wanted to save changes, I clicked NO. Nothing changed in my user groups. I am thinking I got half of the download?? The impedance thig definatley changed. At rehearsal last night my patches were all over the place volume wise, and way more brittle. Right now, I am mentally kicking myself for downloading this right as we are going in to accelerated Christmas Season rehearsals, and we are up every Sunday until the first of the year! I did try a lower the value of the input impedance, and yes, it did soften the tone somewhat, at least at home in the phones. So help me out here, setting the impedance to AUTO overrides prior presets, globally? This may be the issue.I may go in to Line 6 Monkey and use the Revert Function and mess with the download in January. I still have my X3 as a backup, and am THIS CLOSE to putting it back in service!
Don't get me wrong, I love the high level of functionality of the HD, but some times I wish there was a global bass and treble control like my families old stereo console back in the 60s! That and a loudness button!
Blessings, Strato
PS anyone in Southern CA. San Diego area, over the Holidays, come see us at the Escondido Performing Arts Center, 12 / 23 at 7:00 PM. It's FREE!

If oyu think your update was incomplete (and from what you describe I agree) I suggest you run Line 6 Monkey again and reinstall the firmware.
I've never seen the 'save changes' question as part of a firmware installation. It does ask you if you want to keep or replace your existing prests. I suggest you back up any presets you want to save first, then choose to replace your presets as part of the firmware update.
I am thinking that I will go to Monkey, load revert, and then reload my saved patch bundle, then revisit the download in January. I need predictable results for the next couple of weeks. I think it would be different if I only used a couple of patches, but I am an FX hound and will routinely use up to 4 patches per song.
Thank you for your response.
Strat.
I agree with Silvehead on this.
I too, selected "keep current presets" the first time I upgraded to v1.40 and I didn't get the two new setlists of presets included with this upgrade. I re-installed the upgrade from the Monkey (having already saved my custom presets first) and did not keep my presets.
The new Bass/Acu/Voc setlist is full of new presets for bass guitar, acoustic guitar and vocals. The other new setlist I didn't need (L6 link <-> DT) since I don't have a DT amp or variax, but I saved it before I loaded one of my setlist just in case I need it in the future. You will have to edit the setlist names after you load the new flash update for some reason.

You can get the new setlist names updated by performing a Global Settings Reset. You do this by holding down the left nav key while powering up (after updating your firmware). This updates the setlist names associated with the new presets. After doing this you will also need to recalibrate the pedal.
Thanks. I saw that, but, for me It was easier to just edit the one setlist name from the new flash update and then load in my custom setlists into setlists banks 5 - 8.

hey does this mean that i already can use my POD for bass too? coool!
Stratotron,
As I understand it, the "Auto" input impedance setting (or any of the other 7 specific impedance settings) is selectable on a patch by patch basis. But, if you change the Input Setup on System Setup screen #3, using knob 4, to "Global", you can select a global input impendance, Guitar IN-Z, setting with knob 3.
After the update to 1.40 all my patches were to hot as well. The input impendance setting defaulted to 1M ohms, so I lowered this setting on my patches to 32k or 70k ohms, which seemed to be right for me. The easiest way to do this quickly would be to set the Input Setup to "Global" and then choose 32k or 70k for your input impedance, Guitar IN-Z. Then, when you have more time, reset the Input Setup to "Preset" and tweak the impedance setting for each of your patches.
Hope this helps.
Thank you, this is just what I was hoping for!
