No MIDI messages over USB for HD500???

I'm so disappointed to hear that you can't use the HD500 to send MIDI messages triggered by the footswitches over the USB connection. This was one of the biggest reasons I bought the unit: I was intending to use it combined with MIDI Learn in a DAW to control backing track playback. Now that I've started setting that up, I find I'm going to need a separate MIDI interface? That seems unreasonably redundant when all the capability and necessary hardware is already in the HD500. Even the Pod XT had a class compliant USB MIDI connection.

the features are there, but they're present only via the MIDI ports I think.

I hear what you're saying though, the features are there, so why not allow it through USB too.

pop in a feature request via the contact us link at the bottom of this page, and L6 may well think about addressing that in the future.

for now, if that's something that's not available, the simple solution is to get a USB to MIDI interface, as even a good one that L6 recommend (the M-Audio UNO) is very low priced.

    Cheers

I don't anyone is against seeing improvement in the products, and I don't think people are trying to push customers to buy extra products. It doesn't really benefit Line 6 at all for someone to buy an M-Audio product, after all. It's just that if someone needs certain functionality right now, the only option is to use the workarounds available. That's not saying that the firmware can't be changed in the future. It's just realizing that it won't be changed right away, most likely.
