HD 500 recording in Cubase volume problem

Hello !
The question is this: how do you increase the volume of HD 500?
I attached two files one is I lowered the volume of the original song and recorded
and the other one is just the original song and tried to record it without decreasing the volume of original song. (but you can barely hear the sound)
the channel volume in HD is full,
and if I increase the master volume - the volume of original song goes up as well (since i'm using HD as my audio interface)
is it the problem of cubase? or what am I missing, could you kindly help me?
P.S the recording is just an example, I'm a newbie so, just don't care about how I suck
what I meant was that the one I recorded had to be much lower in volume compared to the original song
you can hear the difference right?
This might help;
Press F3 in cubase to bring up the mixer. This should give you faders for your inputs, outputs and master section. Swing off the output faders to mix it how you want it. Use the input faders to set a good solid recording level.
Hope this solves your problem.
Stay in the mix and in the know.
