    Hi Tim,

The best info for this unit for the next few weeks will be this forum and trhe user manual. We plan to add complete info to the main website around NAMM (mid January)

As the manual implies there will be an update offered for the XD-V70 as well as the 30, and the Relay products. We are working hard to get that all defined and tested before we offer specifics or time frames. It will require access to a V75 receiver inorder to accomplish since a USB port is needed. We are still sorting through the best way to make that accessible to as many existing customers as possible and will follow with details in the next few weeks.

In the mean time XD-V75 users can run run in either RF2 9its default mode) mode or RF1 mode for compatibility with XD-V70/30 and Relay products

They shipped out in the USA last week.  Usually it takes an extra week to reach the UK office because of customs differences.  Use the "contact us" link at the bottom of the page and email the UK office directly.

It was mentioned it maybe possible to update the v-70's, is that the receivers aswell as the packs? If the pack is updated will it still work with the original receiver? If you have 6 old systems how many new ones can you use?

            HI Andy,

When the update is available it will allow you to update bodypacks, handhelds and receivers. Any combination of the updated and non-updated units will work together but they will both have to be in the same RF mode (RF1 or RF2). The transmitters allow you to switch between RF1 and RF2. The receivers will automatically detect the proper mode and switch as needed.

What you cannot do is run some of the transmitters in RF1 mode and some in RF2 mode at the same time in the same place.

Also V70 receivers that have not been updated will only recognize RF1 mode. So if you want to use a new transmitter with a non-updated V70 receiver you will have to set the transmitter to RF1 mode.

Total channel count for V75 and updated V70 is 14 in RF2 mode or 12 in RF1 mode.

            Does that make sense?

how would you update the 70's receiver? Can it be done by the end user?

                Re: XD V-75...

Updating the V70 is done by connecting the XD-V75 receiver to a computer via its USB, then connecting the V75 receiver to the V70 receiver via a standard 1/4 inch TRS to TRS cable.

Line 6 Monkey will guide the user through the process and perform the update so yes it can be done by the user as long as they have access to a V75 receiver.

              Steve--

So if I am understanding you correctly, once a V70 receiver is updated via a V75 receiver, it will then be able to operate in RF2 mode.  In the case of my V70 Headset system, will the bodypack then also need an update of some kind to allow operation of that system in RF2 mode?  What about the V30 handheld systems; will the HH unit also need an update to operate in RF2 mode?  The reason for asking is that I currently own a V30 HH system, a V70 HS system, a V70 HH system, a G50 guitar wireless system, and plan on buying a G90 guitar wireless system.  I plan on buying a V75 HH system to get the extra models and upgraded firmware, etc., but need to know that ALL my systems can be upgraded to operate in the RF2 mode and get the benefits that this provides (less interference with 2.4 gHz wireless networks), as I plan to use a wireless network created on my Macbook Pro to use in conjunction with an iPad, and I CANNOT have my iPad losing connection with the host (or even having extremely slow connections) due to wireless mic interference.  Please provide any additional insight, potential pitfalls in my scenario, etc. that I may not be thinking about.  Bottom line is do I need to sell ALL my V70, V30, G50, and G90 systems and buy the new ones to ensure that I do not lose network connectivity between my iPad onstage and the host computer, or will buying one new V75 system and performing updates on the others suffice to give me the protection I need.

                Re: XD V-75...

The V75 receiver will be capable of updating the V70, V30, G30, G50 and G90 (both receivers and transmitters) as we release the V2.0 firmware for each of these units. I can't guaranty exactly what the time frame is for each system because we are testing each of the releases prior to release to the public but that is the plan and the process is well underway. Everything  (other than V70 which was released) is in the test phase at this point.

Receivers are all updated by connecting the 1/4 inch output of the V75 receiver to the receiver which will be updated.

Transmitters are updated via an RF conncetion by connecting an antenna to the V75 receiver's antenna output B and putting the target transmitter in "Loader Mode". This enables a small receiver circuit on the transmitter's motherboard.

I have heard that the V75 have a lower latency then the V70 - comes that also with the update or is that a hardware issue that comes just with the newer one?

                    Hi Albin,

                    Yes of course!!

when the V70 is used in RF2 mode the latency improves to 2.9mS the same as the V75. The original latency applies to both mics in RF1 mode as well.

                    Thanks for pointing that out.

                    Steve
