Hi , just bought a brand new pod studio UX2 (version 2) a couple days ago in toronto from steves music store been trying to get it to work ever since with no luck.
I dont have Internet in my home and am wondering if thats the problem. I went to a cyber cafe and downloaded all the patches and uploads for the device onto a 8GB usb memory stick and came home and downloaded them all onto my desk top PC.
some of the patches were recognised by the line6 monkey, but the new drivers would not install , and when i tried to install them the monkey just tried to conect to internet..(noticed too that pod studio was not shown on monkey's list of products to choose from, so i assume choosing toneport UX2 is the same, which i did pick)...
also tried to run the liecence manager, though yes it did recognise my podstudio as being present it would not authorise it , it gave some sort of error message (which i should have wrote down and brought here with me so i could show you, will bring it next time)...
I am starting to wonder if i may have made a mistake by buying this device with out having a internet connection at my home ?
Can or is there a way to for me get this thing up and running using a usb stick at my local internet cyber cafe , I cant bring my PC which is not a lap top to the cyber cafe its too heavy. and i dont have a lap top either....
will this product only work if you have internet at your house ?
I used to have internet few years back and did own a podxt live, so that device seems to work still , but this new pod studio lights up but dont work or the farm thing does nothing , no sounds ...

also ,
just thought of something , can i bring the pod studio ux2 to the cyber cafe and hook it up to their computers and get it up and runing that way and then bring it back home ?
i have to leave the cyber cafe now my time is runing out , will come back tommorrow and check for your answers/help
thanks .

You do need internet on your computer, but just for the initial authorization.
is there no other way , its sucks to have to pay for internet to be connected to my home for a month simple just to get the pod studio up and running, figure its gonna cost maybe over 50 bucks more, what with the internet connection fees and taxes etc..
I should have thought to ask the guy at the music store about this all, but it didnt occur to me that the thing would not work if you didnt have internet, I kinda figured internet was only for upgrading and patches which i thought a usb stick could do at a internet cafe, but it didnt occur to me that without internet at home you could not get the thing to work at all...
id be happy if the thing would just work with no patches or tone upgrades , just the basic factory setup in the box would do me , all i want is a device that can do mic and guitar at the same time , i bought a tascam 144markII from long and mcquades music store in toronto couple weeks ago for this same purpose and found it to be a peice of junk would not recomend it, as it has no guts and can barly hear the mic through it (sm58) as well it had some latency which sucks when trying to sing along with guitar at the same time...
I own a old podxt live and so i just ran out and bought the podstudio ux2 because i knew the old podxt had some guts and no latency so i figured id go back to using a slightly more expensive product which i knew probably had the guts and no latency issues ,,,,maybe i ran too fast to buy the pod studio and should have done some more research on how the liecencing of pod studio is done first...darn ...so now what.. ?
is there really no way at all to get the pod studio to work with out having internet conection, id be happy even with just its basic functions and no fancy upgrades , all i want is to record guitar and mic at same time so its loud enough and has no latency(anoying echo/delay)...maybe if i send line6 my bill as proof of purchase then maybe they can turn it on some how,,,or does that make sense,,,idk
?
thing is that i dont think steves music takes back or refunds these types of devices? so i think im stuck with trying to find a way to make it work some how ?
anyone got any ideas ?

hello, and thanks for posting the link to the videos on how to licence offline...
But just came back to this site tonite and the video was a bit too late, i got fed up and went out and bought a brand new laptop computer on friday.
I think i finally just about got the ux2 working on this new laptop, wow and its only been about six or more hours of trying to download drivers... , apparently i found out the hard way that these darn new usb3 inputs dont get along too well with the usb2 line six device, so much for what people on the net are saying about usb3 inputs being backward compatible with usb2 jack devices...NOT !...grrrrrr
....at least on this new stupid dell laptop of mine they are not , as far as i can tell anyway,,,lucky (or not) i found out that the laptop has one usb2 input, and when i tried it things began to work a bit better..., still the monkey had some problems downloading so i had to go directly to line6 and manually download some of the updates...its been a very very long night ....
(oddly i bought this particular laptop cause future shops site said the laptop had 3 usb3, inputs and no usb2 inputs, I just figured usb3 would be better for future gear upgrades,,well guess what the laptop only has two usb3 inputs the other is usb2 which i acidently finally discovered tonite...again more grrrrrrrr...but i think in the end things are starting to come together as far as getting my line6 gear to work goes...at least i hope so...
...lol
Im now intending to use all my line six devices (podxt live, pod studio ux2) through my lap top, so if i have to upgrade patches etc i can just take my laptop to a internet connection. I will use my home desktop PC still but the laptop will give me the opportunity to make my line six gear more mobile since i could not take my line six gear in the past to friends and plug it into their PC's to record. I figure/hope that now i can use my laptop to record through and then transfer the recorded stuff to the bigger PC's afterwards etc...lately a lot of singers been asking to record with me so mobilitly of the gear might work out ok for me ...
Some more minor questions...
first - Im going now have to transfer or move my registration of my old PODxt live to this new laptop from my old desktop PC, ... is it something that you at line6 can do at your end since you have both my devices registered in my acount, ,,, hmmm guess i will have to drag my podxt live over here too, to get it on the net and re-registered under my new laptop anyway ? ... is it just a matter of notififying you at line6 or do i just do it my self...?
second - in my profile under the heading computer profile , does "new profile name" refer to the name of the new PC or are you asking us to change our user name like for example "suprosuper man" to something like "perpetual PC nuuby" etc... , ,,, i hope im correct in thinking that you just want the name or brand of our new pc, id rather not have to change my user handle ...
sorry if my writing is awful or hard to read ,,,,im really tired ...
will check back in a few days.
thanks.
