HD500 squeeling and error...

Hi everyone,

I also get the incidental continuous squeeling (described in detail in other posts); specifically when I correct the input sources in the HD Edit software (they tend to change on their own sometimes).

I'm not an expert, but something tells me that the squeeling cannot be good for the 7.1 speakers that produce my sounds. It's so incredibly high and loud that you can just feel your ears damaging/hurting. I guess we should all expect Line 6 to fix this issue with the 2.00 firmware, and hopefully they fully realize that a lot of the HD users risk seriously damaging their expensive gear.

Another issue (maybe it's related to the input problem) : I just powered on my HD500 and I heard a loud but short 'squeel' (if that is the right word for it). The displays says DSP OVER, and I made a photo of the display, which I attached to this post. I restarted the device while pressing the left arrow, and for now my HD500 is back alife. However, I am very curious what this DSP OVER and the load 'squeel' means here... so the question: what causes this error? The combination of this error and the continuous squeeling error gives me (and other users too I guess) the feeling that my hd500 is (getting) defective.

Hopefully Line 6 of other users can tell me what the cause is!

Thanks in advance

The squealing issue has come up a few times and we are awaiting a comment or fix from Line 6.  The main thread around this is here --> http://line6.com/support/message/347762#347762

The DSP OVER message is nothing to worry about (well it isn't a bug anyhow).  It simply means that you are asking the HD to do too much and you have overloaded the 'Digital Signal Processing' chip.  This can happen quite easily if you use certain effects and/or amps.   There is a thread here that breaks down which effects and amps are particularly 'greedy' and can cause this issue--> http://line6.com/support/message/208840#208840,.
