Hello again, Thanks for all the help so far . You have been a valuable resourse. My new question is how do I program a tuning through the HD500 . I cant call up tunings live I hear both tuned and alt tunings at the same time. I watched the video showing the ability but I didnt hear how to program it. Again thank you all for your help.
You would need to make sure that you select Variax Channel 1 as the Input source on the POD HD500 as that is the modeled guitar sound channel being fed into the POD. Choosing just 'Variax' as the input source would blend in both the mags and the modeled sounds, so if you were using the ALT TUNING knob with an alternate preset, you would hear both the standard tuning mags, and the detuned models together at once.
The ALT TUNING knob is intended to override any saved settings made on the guitar, but cannot be saved into a model or into a preset on the POD HD500.
To have a specific alternate tuning called up with a preset, you would need to save you guitar model with that alternate tuning saved into the specified model using the Variax Workbench software.

Hi
Currently it isn't possible to store individual JTV tunings in the POD HD500/HD Pro along with your (HD) presets, but one of the features announced this week for the upcoming JTV firmware version 1.18 and POD HD500/HD Pro software is the ability to do exactly this.
Both firmware versions should be available soon.

Killer feature. I was disappointed from day 1 as to how the alt tunings were handled. Having them seperate when using the guitar but not having an elegant way to recall alt tunings mid song via POD without overwriting variax patch seemed limiting. I may actually play with alt tunings now.
I might be confused here Nick. I'm using a Variax 500 with the HD500 and I can control what guitar and what tuning associated with my patches. The JTV can't do that yet? Am I missing something?
I reread the post from LINE6HUGO. I think I get it now. Can't wait to upgrade to the JTV but am still having great results from my Variax 500.
What's confused us is I think: you posted in the James Tyler Variax support forum
Naturally, we've assumed you were talking about a JTV rather than the older Variax 500.
The HD500 can control your Variax 500 and select any of the Variax model presets. You can save the desired Variax preset model selection along with your HD500 presets.
