Having trouble calibrating FBV Mk I for use with HD Pro

Hey everyone. Not sure if this is really specific to the HD or not - probably more likely to be a problem with my FBV, but when I enter calibration mode on my FBV Mk I Shortboard, the toe position reads 127 but the heel only goes as low as 37 - 40, so when I use it on something like the Pitch Glide effect, heel is not 0. Also there's a lot of 'stepping' in the effect, like it's not moving smoothly through the values but rather in blocks of 5 or so. Any ideas?
Have you tried the pedal calibration on the HD Pro (Power Up and Nav Pad Right) ?
Hey Jim,
I just did that and I get a menu listing all the components of the HD. What do I do from here?
The doc here explains it for the HD500. I think it is the same for the Pro. Please let me know if not.

Ahhh this relates to the internal pedal on the HD500. I don't think it works with external controllers. Certainly doesn't do anything here anyway. It just lights up the display on the FBV. Think I'll just suck it up and get a MkII. Tried out my dad's FBV Express MK II and it calibrates and works perfectly.
Sorry mate, that is a pain!
There is another doc here about FBV calibration and that may help (or not)!

The other way is to consider a MIDI controller. I think that (with FW 1.40) they can now handle most of the FBVs do including expression pedal stuff. Certainly, many MIDI controllers come in cheaper.
Yeah I mean I opened it up and checked everything out. The optical sensor was pretty clean, nothing appeared to be broken. Maybe the metal bracket was bent or something, who knows? Either way I got the thing like 3rd, maybe 4th hand, and it was very well used before I got it. So I guess it served its purpose (to just switch presets). The Mk II looks nicer anyway. If it has actuators like the HD500 then I'll be really happy with it.
make sure you've followed correctly the calibration procedure:
FBV Shortboard (Mk I)
-Attach the CAT-5 cable from your Line 6 device to your FBV shortboard. Power on the Line 6 device. The FBV Shortboard LEDs should cycle and the display should read "LINE 6" with the backlight lit up.
- Once the pedal is fully powered and showing the the preset from the Line 6 device, move the ONBOARD expression pedal to the centre position, roughly halfway between the toe (maximum) and heel (minimum) position.
- Press STOMP + DELAY + REVERB and hold for three seconds to begin calibration of the ONBOARD pedal.
- Move the ONBOARD pedal to its MAXIMUM position (pedal all the way toe down) and press down hard enough to click the pedal's toe switch. You want need to stand up and put your full weight on the pedal to ensure the pedal switches over you will hear a slight "click" sound. The second number grouping (from the left) in the display should read "127"
-Move the ONBOARD pedal to its MINIMUM position and press down (pedal all the way heel down). The second number grouping (from the left) in the display should read "0"
**If you have an EXTERNAL pedal, hook it up to your FBV SHORTBOARD now and continue on to step six. If you do NOT have an external pedal, simply turn off your Line 6 device, you are done calibrating.
-Move the EXTERNAL pedal to the centre position, roughly halfway between the MAXIMUM and MINIMUM position
-Press BANK DOWN + STOMP + DELAY and hold for three seconds, to begin calibration of the EXTERNAL pedal.
-Move the EXTERNAL pedal to its MAXIMUM position (pedal all the way toe down).
-Move the EXTERNAL pedal to its MINIMUM position and press down (pedal all the way heel down).
-Turn OFF your Line 6 device. You have just calibrated your EXTERNAL pedal.
