POD xt Live Usb Problem !!!

Called Line 6 tech support today and verified that it a hardware problem. Not really worth fixing for $200 vs getting another used one at guitar center for $119..... oh well...... it is broke.
I apologize if this is the wrong area of the forum but it is the closest description I could find. Here we go - I plugged my PODxt Live into the USB the computer tonight like I always do and the screen on the PODxt went blank and rebooted and started with standard models loaded message on the boot screen. This was strange because I have all the model packs except the Bass expansions loaded into it... Anyways, I can no longer connect with the USB cable so I cannot authorize the expansion packs back into it (the expansion packs were loaded before it freaked out) the license manager does not work with the MIDI connection. The midi cable connection works fine so I reflashed the firmware with monkey to 3.01, the USB still does not work. So I turned on the PODxt live holding down the all the way right button(last right button from the 4 under the screen) and the display now says MIDI FAIL - VRX FAIL - SDRAM PASS 01B1F5192 - SDRAM PASS..unit works fine otherwise.... Unless there is something else I can try or a special way I can re-flash the USB to get it to work again I need to get an RMA number so I can get it fixed. The nearest service center is about 80 miles from where I live so I would like to send it to Line6 repair.
Update - started in safe mode and the usb does not work that way either, when connecting w with MIDI (midi Sport UNO) Monkey with the firmware version shows up but the USB firmware version is blank.. still broke.

I think you might get a better answer if you post this in the Pod XT forum here --> http://line6.com/support/community/support/pod_support/otherpods .
This forum is for the POD HD series.

Have you tried manually downloading and installing the latest drivers for your POD XT as they appear not to be installed?
I did try and update the drivers, but it never loads them because it doesn't recognize the PODxt over USB. I have a UX2 and GX and the drivers updated fine.
thanks
