Hello,
I am sorry for my english and I hope you can understand qath I awnt to know
I' ve got a DT50 and pod HD500 and I want to to know if i can drive the DT 50 (select chanelA/B, selct pentod/triod, select routing I/II/III/IV, select class A/AB) with the pod and in the same time using pod only as a multieffect (preamp mod not active). All that, only with L6 link (no midi connection)
I tried to search the answer on the forum, but it's very dificult for me because of my poor english. Sorry if the answer already exists
Thank you foranswering with simple sentences
Florent (France)
the DT preamp is identical to the POD HD500 preamp. so you can't easily do what you're asking, instead you can just setup presets on the POD, using the amp models that are teh same as the DT50 (but in your POD) and it will give you the same result.
It's hard to get your head around. but once you grasp that the preamp in the DT is taken straight from the POD, you'll understand that you don't need to do what you were asking. Instead you just use the POD as your preamp, and it will then control the DT50's power amp.

Not with the L6 link.
You will have to use a midi cable out of the HD 500 into the DT-50 and figure out the correct midi messages to send. You would also probably have to use the 4 cable method.
Is there a reason why you don't want to use the Preamp models in the HD? They are exactly the same and it cuts down on your cables, etc.
The only advantage I see is that you save one effect block in the HD by not using the Preamp.
Thank you for your answers. I just thought that the preamp of the pod is modelling and the preamp of DT is analogical. I m not right ?
Thank you for the link, I m trying to understand slowly
No. The preamp section of the DT-series amps is modelled using four of the same models that are found in the POD HD range ![]()
