Line 6 POD HD500 USB volume problem

I am writing to ask for some information about Line 6 POD HD 500. I did not plugged in my POD to my computer for a while, but when I did it yesterday I realised that my every attempt to record something ends with (Cubase 5) the incoming sound from POD being at a very high level in Cubase. The sound is not distorted because it is very hard limited, but I have never experienced anything like this before. I have also tried to record something using factory presets but I come across the same problem. I have to turn down the volume on the POD mixer to -10dB to even be able to make a recording without any distortion. I have all the drivers up to date using Line 6 Monkey. Do you know where the problem may be? I have also tried to use different DAW program and it shows that the incoming sound is at the level of -15dB but is also very hard limited - I don't understand why. It seems to me that there is some internal POD problem with USB transmission. I would very much appreciate help and any suggestions?
In the most recent Drivers for the HD series: there is a checkbox that lowers the output gain by 18dB and an additional fader that reduces the gain. Use Line 6 Monkey to download the latest drivers and then try that.
