Does this behavior ever occur on the amp with the controller (is it an FBV Shortboard?) not connected? Also, have you tried swapping out the CAT-5 cable with a new one? In the event that there's an internal kink or short in the CAT-5 cable (usually not perceivable by sight), there could be a chance that the amp is receiving glitchy data commands from the controller...

Tried a new cable, and tried a friends floorboard that he uses with the same amp HD147. Still does the same thing. I called line6 and they think it might be the ethernet jack in the back of the amp. They are sending me one, just have to find someone to put it in.

We may have spoken on the phone, actually... if it's not the new jack, then the problem exists somewhere further in on the mainboard internally.

Hey Perry, I have the HD147 and i'm having the random sound dropout problem too. I got it back from the warranty service center, took it out of the box and hooked it up and still the sound was dropping out. So,i called the service center and spoke to the tech who worked on it. He said he did maintence on the PCB Board and ran the amp for an hour straight. He said it's working perfect, but he asked me if i'm using a floorboard....which i am. He said there's issues with the use of the floorboard with the HD147 and i should get in contact with you guys at Line 6 for a solution to this problem. I love the sound of this amp and i want to work it into my gigging gear with the floorboard. Can you help me???.......Thank you
